new here, didin't get help on the other post i made, please help
Sorry to make a repost of what i made in the "buying/leasing" part of this forum. I felt i was neglected and didn't get any accurate answers. Maybe some of you can help me out. There is a Nissan 350z right now at the Toyota dealer where i bought my car originally and i feel i should trade it in right now but need some answers. thanks a lot. Here is what i wrote :
Hey guys. My name is Andrew and i'm about to purchase a 350z. I currently have a celica which is no where near a 350z. I got to testdrive about 5 different ones and fell in love with it. The exhaust sound is like no other and the appearance is far better than the sti, s2000, evo that i can easily buy. For some reason, the 350z is the hardest to get. I'm putting down 12,000 down and still getting high montly payments..lol. But with all the money i dump in the celica, i can easily get a Z. I had some questions. I have been browsing the site awhile now and searched but couldn't get a direct answer. Please help me on this. 1. Does anyone have a picture of the plenum and what does it actually do? How hard to install? It seems to have good gains from what everyone is saying. 2. I will be getting a 6 speed, might be 03,04. I know this model has the tranny problem. I was wondering, when they change out the for the new tranny, does this completly solve the problem? I know some people have gotton atleast 4 diff trannys. Are these rebuilt or new? Any true way of just getting rid of the problem? 3. Is the tire feathering problem hard to get rid of? Do you just change tires and it should go away or something? Does the dealership take care all of it on the warranty? 4. Any other reliability problems on the Z that i should know of that could make or break it for me? 5. It seems the Popcharger is the cheapest intake with good gains compared to all the other intake systems for the 350z. With this, is there any bogging, slow on the lowend , or anything such as that? Usually i find with intakes on most cars, it kills daily driving, good only when redlining for street racing (which i don't do at all), and makes cool sounds. I just want somethign that gives me gains without making the car seem slower since i don't do any street racing. I do drive hard from time to time when i'm in a good mood. But not sure if this is for me. 6. last question, thanks for being patient with me. Any mods that make the steering wheel shake on the Z? Such as 19's, lowering springs, things like that? I know this has to do with balancing, but i rather ask to be safe. Thanks guys. Hope some of you can help me. I attached a couple pics of my car. Please be nice. All i really have is expensive custom paintjob and 2 piece Ro_Ja wheels. It's good enough for that slow fwd car. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...e/DSC00726.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...e/DSC00719.jpg [IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v377/andrewle/DSC00195.jpg[/IMG |
Crawford plenum
http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg...._1881_30974027 APS http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg...._1881_28309444 1) The stock plenum, due to the slope towards the front, which Nissan designed to clear the stock strut bar on the 350Z, restricts the airflow to the front cylinders. Crawford raises the front of the plenum allowing more surface area and greater, equalized airflow to all cylinders. Greater airflow equals more power. But.. you wont feel much difference by adding the plenum. should have other mods along to make it work. 2) iono, i got AT.. but most people got their tranny swapped out and i didnt hear anymore complain.. 3)tire feathering cant really be solved.. if u got it.. sucks for u. dealer covered alot of those but umm.. try not to get 1 with it. changing the tire will only wear the new one out.. 03s got some problems.. 04 is alot better.. havnet heard 05 having any 4) nope.. other problems may be brake squeech.. window leak air or oil.. lil problems that dealers cover 5) popcharger.. if u leave ur car idle too long, i heard ppl say it sucks in too much hot air.. i dont have it, i got AEM CAI along with bypass.. works perfect with great sound and small gain like all others.. b*tch to clean.. 6) lowering the Z with 19s? almost every Z is 19s lowered ^_^ mooo problem! now go buy ur Z already.. i got a new 05 last year for about 31k total.. i paid a down for 15k and my monthly is about 330$.. im full time student and i can pay for it.. so i doubt ull have a problem |

1. Good gains, easy install. Installed it on my friend's Z along with him. Short time to install. It allows more airflow for more power.
2. I've 05 MT, no problem with tranny. You said you can easily purchase the STi, S2k, why not just buy a brand new 06? Sometimes, buying used cars can be a matter of luck, you never know what problems there are. Unless, you are getting this pre-owned from dealers? 3. Dealer will take care of feathering if you are under warranty. No feathering problems on my Eibach lowered 05. 4. Not for me so far. 5. I've CAI + EVO2 exhaust only since I will be going FI and there's no need for me to really purchase anything else, but I really doubt you are going to feel any difference with filter. 6. Have 19 wheels + eibach springs and no vibrations. |
Buy either the 5/16 Motordyne Plenum Spacer or AAM Angled Spacers. Both work as good as the Crawford or APS plenums. U also save a lot of $. ?U can also benefit from buyin the spacers so ur dealer doesnt notice uve been messin around with the motor.(warranty issue) Some dealers are a lot cooler than other so it depends on ur dealer if their mod free.

If you buy an 03 or 04, do yourself a favor and get a professional alignment at a tire dealership- not at a Nissan dealer.
Nissan replaced my tires once due to this problem but the dealership told me all alignment specs were fine. Took it to a local shop with a skilled alignment crew and they showed me a printout of how far off the alignment was- and how much they adjusted it. No problems on the second set of tires since!!! |
Popcharger (one of the most popular CAI for the Z along with the Injen) is easy to install and easy to clean. Plenum spacer is easy to install as well.
I bought a '05 Z brand new - it now has 20k miles on it. Only thing I've ever had to do was change the oil... it's been maintenance and worry-free so far. '05's don't have tire feathering at all from what I've seen. Why not get a used or even brand new '05? You can probably get a pretty good deal on a new one if you look around hard enough. Oh, one complaint I have along with many other Z owners is the cheap Nissan paint :icon20: especially on the front bumper... so many rock chips. Do a search on this forum and you'll see what I'm talking about. Hope I've helped you. |
haha good oh nissan paint :p
1) buy a new car and put on clear bra right away ~600$ 2) get a completely new custome paint paint chip is due to our car so low on the floor.. clear bra can take care most of that.. what it sucks is you see a bunch of "water mark" after you clean your car after awhile.. very noticeable on darker colors.. and it wont freakin come off.. mostly on the hood for mine.. you should really consider 06 since its got some pretty big changes.. i regret buying mine at 05.. but i didnt know =[ 3 monthes later they announced 06.. or at least to me.. |

'03's were noted for bad trannys & tire feathering & alot of other small issues. Most are lemons! I would buy a '04.5 & up. Don't rush into things!
Just MHO. |
Did you get the 350Z or what.
|
I read the entire post on newcelica.org. I don't think we want him around here.

"Yeah.......I know I owe you money. But you asked me to pay you and that really pissed me off. So now, I won't pay you." |

I purchased an 04 last thanksgiving...my monthly is $442 and im a full time college student. You should be ok with the payments.
In regards to the tranny, mine hasnt given me problems yet. I notice that sometimes my first gear can be a little hard to put in, but none of the other gears. I also notice at high speeds i can hear air, so i probably have an air leak somewhere. Ive already had to replace my tires once, but it wasnt due to feathering. I think you should be ok though As for all your other questions, i honestly wouldnt know. Im working on trying to put a turbo in my car now that i have began my interior |

I read the whole site as well, definitly a bad apple, has been proven he is a lier and a thief, who cant settle his debt to members on another forum. heck he doesnt even have the balls to post in the forum where they call him out and try to resolve the situation.
i do find it amazing how quickly his indiscretions over there made it to this forum though....good job guys... |
well...he probably won't be back...with that username at least.
