Today was a Terrible day! Now i'm having Suspension Problems. PICS. help!

first i locked my key in my other car (i know my fault, i'm dumb). after that i'm fine and excited to install my s-tech's, with my friend (has a 350z). so we install the rear in a snap. and move to front. following the DIY instructions, we get stuck. we can't get the sway bar end link bolt out. the DIY said was hard work and to "bang" on it. so we start banging away. and it doesn't budge, and we end up messing up the threard, because its all smashed down in the beginning. we can't seem to get the other link bolt (the one attached to the sway itself). i was trying so hard to undo it, i slipped and hand slammed into something, and my head into another. i got so mad i punched a hole threw the wall in my garage. (i can take pics of that too if you want to see. heh) heres the bolt i'm talking about. anyone have any solutions? to get the thing out and fix the thread. i can't just use a different bolt because it fixed to the link.

I use to be the do-it-yourselfer until things like this happened. Then i ended up paying 100 bucks in the end to get it fixed.

Sounds like you'll need to buy a new link. You may want to try jacking up the suspension while the car is on jack stands. That will remove some of the pressure on the link & you'll be able to slide it right out.

I just installed sway bars & that is what I did. Good luck!

easy does it....i replaced the stock suspension last summer with no problem on my own in four hours. The bolts are under alot of tension against the torsion bar.

I used the tutorials as an outline. Just to get an idea of what to do. For the fronts, I actually took the entire strut out. I didn't even touch the sway bar endlinks.

Exactly. If you look at the pics you can see the bolts are at an angle and supporting a lot of weight. You need to put a jack under the lower control arm and raise it up until the end link bolts are straight. With no pressure on them, they will come right out, usually just with your hands.

thanks, but Checkmate58, i'm trying to take out the entire assembly, to create enough room i have to loosen this bolt. i've try every other possible way. how about fixing the thread? there no point if i can't even get the nut back on.

Did you try to use the jack to help level by putting it under the lower control arm? I agree with 1nate7 regarding this method. Then take out the endlink and then try to rethread.

The other option is a spring compressor. If you compress the spring, you can get the whole assembly out without taking off the sway bar end link. AutoZone will let you put a refundable deposit down on one. Make sure you get the "strut spring tool". Either way you are going to have to replace the end link if you can't get the nut back on. Make sure you break loose the nut on top of the strut before you take out the whole assembly. Its much easier this way because the 3 top bolts will hold it in place while you break it loose.

thanks i got the link off but after installing everything, the only thing i need now is to put the nut back on, which i JUST CAN'T DO! and no store i called yet has a 17mm die. so what can i use or where and how much can i get another link?

Performance Nissan, you need part #13 although I am not sure it is labeled correctly. You could give them a call as well and I am sure they could help you.
