What was the cause of the Fail? I'm sure they gave you a specific category. NOx too high, CO2 too high, CO too high, leaky gas cap, something on the visual inspection?

I went to a local gas station. Then it was plug into the OBD2.They say that it might be a O2 sensor. But usally if the sensor go bad it should triggger the check engine light. Anyone have a clue on wat should I check for befor I go to the stealership. Yeah its completely stock for now.

do you have a print-out? That should tell you exactly what part of the test failed. the OBD-II is just how the smog computer talks to the car; it isn't a diagnosis.

I had a bad O2 sensor on my Kia when I last had it smogged; it caused the N)2 levels to get extremely high. But it failed because the exhaust manifold cracked and let cold air in; so I had to replace both parts.

Don't go to the dealership; they aren't any better than a regular mechanic and they charge more. The ONLY advantage a dealer may have over a regular mechanic is a faster parts order pipeline. CA requires failed cars to go to a certified smog mechanic; hopefully PA doesn't.

How did you come to this conclusion? Was it because you were told it was stock or did you do a visual check underneath and saw stock cats?

And what type of emission test did they do? Did they put sensors in the back of your exhaust?

Look at the cat for any signs of it being scrapped on the bottom. I just went through this with my daily driver Accord. I bought the car cheap because it wouldn't pass emissions. Got to looking underneath and the cat had been smacked pretty hard at one point causing the internal honeycomb to crumble.

The shop could possibly betrying to rip you off so you get a repair while your at it. I had a J30 failed and asked what was wrong he pointed to a hose that looked like it was cut with scissors. The car was stock and had been smogged before and I never touched the engine. I took it to some other place and they told me that shop has been known to do shady repair. Also a news investigation did a report on Jiffy Lube.

Direct from the EPA Website. In-short, there is no mention that a 'theft-recovered' vehicle is automatically void of a federally required emissions warranty. Follow the steps, work the process. Basically, make a warranty claim with the dealer, but be prepared that if the result is "maintenance neglect" you'll have to pay up, either with them, or someone else. Good luck.

What Reasons Can the Manufacturer Use to Deny a Warranty Claim?

If your vehicle is within the age and mileage limits for the
applicable emissions warranty, the manufacturer can only deny coverage
if evidence shows that you have failed to properly maintain and use
your vehicle, causing the part or emission test failure. Some
examples of misuse and malmaintenance include the following:

* vehicle abuse such as off-road driving or overloading; or

* tampering with emission control parts or systems, including
removal or intentional damage of such parts or systems; or

* improper maintenance, including failure to follow maintenance
schedules and instructions specified by manufacturer, or use of
replacement parts which are not equivalent to the originally
installed parts.

What Should I Do If My First Attempt to Obtain Warranty Coverage Is
Denied?

If your first attempt to receive emissions warranty coverage is
denied, you should do the following:

1) Ask for a detailed explanation, in writing as to why emissions
warranty coverage was denied; and

2) Ask for the name(s) of the person(s) involved in the decision
to deny coverage, including anyone from the manufacturer's
regional or zone office; and

3) Ask for the name(s) of the person(s) with the manufacturer you
should contact to appeal the denial of coverage under the
emissions warranty.

4) Contact and, if necessary, write to the person mentioned above
requesting coverage and giving the basis for your request. Repeat
and continue the appeal process until you are satisfied or have
exhausted all means of appeal.

I finally sold if after i got my licence taken away, the Gov is bad about exemptions, i hope with Nissan as well as the director of the DEQ in this area, as well as DMV no one would give me an exeption even though i had proof it wouldnt pass, so i finally sold it, now im half way saved up for a 350 by this time next year i would have one YAYAYAA!!!!!!!
