What the hell is the black undercoat? on Volks
Friends,
As I was cleaning a curve scrape on the lip of my silver Volk, I rubbed too hard on the surface of the lip and cause a black to take over the silver finish I was trying to clean. I guess I removed the silver finish when rubbing to hard. This is the first time for me. I did not know when rubbing hard with a cotton cloth will remove the finish on Volks. What the hell is this?
Is this ever happened to you? Please give me some impute as to how you resolved this problem.

You have the mercury sliver TE37's I think...
the base coat of the wheel could be a darker color..., but did you scrape off some more of where it was scraped? like chip some off?
pic?

Jason,
I have never seen a color coming off so easy. In my experience, when cleaning painted items, the color does not come off that easy. I always trusted powder coating in being stronger than paint. When I looked in detailed I noticed that the silver color layer was very thin.
I will contact the guys at Mackin Industries, Inc.
and ask why is this happening to this rim.

Thanks for the imput mike,
I reviewed the article before and because of this article I decided to remove the dirt first from the rim. My TE volk rim will scratch very easy and the wheel color is removed very easy. By comparing my volks and the 06 oem rim that came with the car, I would honesty say that the 35th oem rim is much better finish with thicker layers of color and clear coat.
