Your hearing is a vital sense that if already diminished, will continue to worsen over time. Unless you stimulate the auditory nerve, any rehabilitation you attempt will be difficult. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be to treat, and you'll be facing not only the increased expense of hearing aids, but also the likelihood of processing problems due to nerve degeneration. Most hearing aid dispensers or audiologists offer patient financing, which for $3600 will start at about $80/month.
When you consider that hearing represents a significant safety factor, and imagine what could happen if you fail to hear traffic, alarms or other important sounds, it puts it in a different light. You can always get new shoes later but your hearing should come first!

I think I'm still going for hearing aids. Just wondering if they have them in gunmetal or hyper black. My decision came down to, while at the doc's office he said that he was giving me a urine test, I said "wtf", why do I need to **** in a cup for a hearing problem? He laughed, and said, "no,no, I said a hearing test".

Trust me, once you get them, you will know it was money well spent.

Here's one important difference between hearing aids and new shoes. All hearing aids come with a money-back trial period - it's required by state law. Arkansas requires dispensers to give a minimum of 30 days, and you'll find some that extend that. If/when you buy hearing aids, make sure you know what their return policy is and whether or not they charge a restocking fee. I'd recommend looking for an audiologist who doesn't.
As for new shoes... Once you've worn 'em they're yours!

thanks for the info Barmats, I've checked with my doc and that's exactly what he said, trial period for 30 days. Hey, in Arkansas we have a rent and roll wheel store, rent the wheels for a price, if you like 'em the rental price goes toward purchase.........hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Kinda like hearing aids?
