another f**king dent
so ya sat morning i discovered a small dent on the passenger side door by the door handle. i cant believe how much bad luck i get. i had just got 3 vicious dents out like a few months ago for $250. now i have to deal with another unfortunate dent even though it's relatively small, but to me still unsightly. is there ANYTHING we Z owners can do (i know this has happened to many of you) that can help protect against these dents? like maybe side molding or what not?

Lol, yesterday I saw a black Z parked in the middle of an empty parking lot of Puente Hills Mall. I guess he doesnt want people to make a dent on his car.
However, its so obvious.. it attracts people attention to it.. which might cause a higher chance for being vandized...

As it is, look for a remote parking spot and walk further. Im coming up on four years now, dent free.

4 years and no dents for you? Where exactly do you live cuz I can fix that for you
Had my Z since Feb '06 and the only ding I got was from the dealer

I park in the middle of the lot ... if I catch anyone tweaking on my car that clear zone around the car allows for a clear fire zone.
I only park the car indoors or way the heck away from others. In the lot at work I park off alone and everyone knows the car is mine ... and to keep away from it.

What always happens to me... when i park in the farthest back of the lot that I can, with one side of the car against a wall or some other concrete barrier so no one can park on that side.... I leave, to my stuff I came to do, come back.. and there is almost always either an SUV, mustang, or honda parked right next to me.... with no other cars around... That's how I get door dings... pisses me off....

At times, I have walked a good 15 minutes from the parking lot into the local mall, just to keep my car as far away from others as possible. At work, no one parks less than 4 feet from me on either side out of respect. Nearly six months of ownership and not even the shallowest of dents.
If you're looking for "ANYTHING Z owners can do", that would be it. Nothing can guarantee 100% protection, but we do the best we can.

normally i don't drive the ZR to work. that's my wife's turn to enjoy the car. plus, she's got big spaces and a parking garage so it's not in the sun all day.
although, occasionally i'll drive it to work. we've got a gated and patrolled lot, so i'm generally not worried about it, but i do park out in the middle of nowhere by the guard shack. there's an 04 ZR and a really nice Charger SRT-8 that i park near. the charger always straddles a line and us Z's park a few spaces apart.
anyway, here's what i came out to see a couple weeks ago...
freakin' moron

I have been doing a little homemade study.
Instead of parking just in front of my window, I will park across the lot (a whole 20+/-ft) away, but can still see the car no problems. NOBODY parks there except me if I can't park in front of my window and know that my doors won't get dinged.
Ya, as you can guess, out of the available spots.....anyone who feels the desire to park in that row of spots, picks the one RIGHT next to me.
I have never had a crappy car and have never had that need to "envy" people. So I really don't know what it is that drives people to do what they do w/ regards to parking up against you.

Only ding I've ever had since my '06's purchase in March has been from the dealer. It was in the garage when I picked it up, and was rainy so the sun wasn't out enough to notice it. Needless to say, when the sun came out, it stuck out like a soar thumb.
Dealer sent out their own guy and paid for the repair though.
I park as far as I can from everyone, and when I HAVE to park next to people, I try to get a parking spot such that one side has no adjacent parking spot. (Yeah... try figuering that one out...)

Same. After picking the Z up from the dealer and not noticing it in the lot i managed to notice the four dents the day after in my passenger door like someone shot it with a pellet gun.

I notice you parked like a dodo. You are on top of the line on one side and even tho he's a butt for parking next to you instead of an empty area, he still did you a favor by scooting over to the line away from your car to compensate for your error. You're lucky and unlucky at the same time.
