Super noob question but need help
First question when i start the car as in foot on clutch key in and turn. Should i just let go of the clutch right away or hold it down for a few secs?
Second question what do you recommend when upshifting/downshifting fully depress the clutch or just enough to get the gear in place?
I know my questions sound dumb but thanks for the help.

Foot in clutch when starting, and when the rev goes up and settles down, then let go, unless you're in gear, then don't. Only in neutral let go.
I usually depress enough to get out of gear.

as long as the car is in neutral it doesnt matter...
the less you are compressing the clutch the better IMHO... so I would release it sooner... i guess you can say you wont be wearing your release bearing excessively either.. ehhe...
you only have to press in the clutch to hit the trigger... you can close the circuit and not even have to press the clutch if you wanted to... its a "Safety" feature...

^ Are you serious? With my CD -008 tranny, the clutch pedal is not as forgiving. Engagement is fine, but half of the time I grind if I go by your method. Heck, I'll grind once in awhile even with the clutch down to the floor since it's a habit from driving this car. With other cars, I can get away easily without grinding. It's funny... I never grind driving any car other than mine. I do notice the pedal effort is more difficult from 1" off the floor.

i let go the clutch slowly on nutural. if its in gear i put it to nutural and then start.
+1 on keep driving until u know where the engauge spot is.
and im a noob giving noob advice from my noob experience.

Wow... interesting question... I'd hate to have to learn how to drive stick shift on my new Z. Stall... stall... grind.. grind...... Oh well... hope you learn fast..

I can drive the z pretty well now but i was just wondering what you guys prefer in terms of clutch press. I can get a smoother shift if i press only partial way down instead of all the way down.
