Glad to see non-"ricers"
I would just like to take this time to say I appreciate all the people on this board who are anti-"rice" and are into sensible and "clean" modding of the Z. I was afraid with the Z's low pricepoint many people would kill it with massive unusable wings, LED windshield washers, fart-can exhausts, and other janky/ shoddy modifications which debase the design of the vehicle. However, I must say that I am quite happy that the majority of people on here are into "classy" modding and haven't turned their cars into rice rockets (nor are planning on doing so). I will get off my high horse now...

but wings make mad downforce at speeds above 150mph and fart cans can increase the sound performance of your car.
owell whatever, their car, I mean on any other car, 19" rims would be considered rice... but tons of people have them now. they dont have any performance purpose... it all depends how strictly you use the term.

I come from the BMW world but I'm planning on getting a Z to replace my aging 3 series. My girlfriend is giving me a lot of crap about getting a car with such high "rice-potential". I am very anti-rice and that aspect is a bit of a detractor for me but I have convinced myself that the Z's high track performance and affordable cost make up for it.
Looking forward to the lap times but still hesitant about pulling into the parking lot at work when I first get the car...

I hear what you're saying but I actually prefer the look of the decklid spoiler. Anyway... to each his own. Enjoy your Track! I love mine!

I agree. I have a track model, but I hate the tacked on look of the rear spoiler. In my opinion, it completely destroys the flowing lines of the rear of the car. I recall some Nissan designer saying early on that the car didn't need a spoiler, but a few months later, there it was, tacked on it all it's glory. I'm having it removed, the holes filled and the rear deck repainted by a high end body shop....a small price to pay to have the Rays and Brembos.

hehe, give it some time, you'll be seeing all kinds of Z's all decked out with huge wings and bodykits. Personally, I'm planning on a subtle wing, one that goes with the lines of the car. As for a bodykit, the only one I like is the Nismo kit, goes well with the car . My first mod though, will be new wheels.

I actually like the little spoiler too, I think the rear lines make the car look "buttless" and the little spoiler breaks up the expanse. I dunno, it's my opinion but lots of my friends think the non-spoiler models look kind of funny without the spoiler there.

Ah, but we never see WRXs and S2000s with big wings, etc, and they are comparable in price to the Z. And you can get used RX7s and 300ZXs for a lot less than a new Z, and I never see them tastelessly modded. I think we're in the clear
