Boomers in Z's

I just read the posts regarding age to drive a Z and these were all young people even in their teens.

Are there any other boomers out there with Z's. When I was young there was the Datzon Z, but I couldn't afford that at that age. Then the Z's disappeared and didn't come back until I was much, much older. I have mine now and love it just as much as the younger people do. I think any age is good.

Any Boomer replies?

Quig:o

I am 43, last year of the boomers.

47 yrs old, and loving my 06' touring ...

I'm 47 as well and bought an 06 Touring Roadster last summer. Prior to that I had a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup w/hemi, and before that had a TT Roadster. The ZR is awesome and I love it.

mine's a coupe with an automatic (too lazy to shift), my "mid life" toy.

I'm 377448 hours old as well.

At any age it's nice to have a Z but at a boomers age you're more likely to take care of what "you" worked hard for.

Wow, thanks for the replies.

I never said, but I'm 57 and loving my new Z.

Quig:)

Yes. Born in 1949. This is my first Z above. A 260Z bought new in 1974.

Not until 30 years later did I get my second Z.:)

Well on the age spectrum Im still young, only 23. My 1st car was a 1983 280zx nonturbo from the same year I was born. I drove it for 5 years and put almost 200,000 miles on it. Ive been Nismo biased for almost 10 years :p

Wow David, nice cars and pics.

I remember the 1970's z. Never drove one though.

Core, 200,000, that's what I hope my Z will get. I've heard that Nissans do that.

coreapoc Jan 3, 2007 04:36 PM

I bought it with around 95,000 miles already on it. I put on another 200k on stock head and block ;)

I've loved the Z ever since the early 70's when my neighbor got an orange 240Z for his birthday. Then my best buddy bought a 280ZX in the early 80's renewing my desire to become a Z owner.

I am now 49 years old and I finally have my first Z.

Bought it at 18, it's not an exotic. Don't understand why it's so hard to believe you don't have to be a 45 year old lawyer to own this car. With 6 grand and a trade-in down, payments are 338 a month. Not even half a week's paycheck.

More teens would have them if they weren't lazy potheads that spent all their money on video games, cd's, and trendy ****.

EDIT- Not trying to be an ass, but it bothers me. Yea it sucks that kids' parents buy them for them, and they don't really appreciate it, but it's hypocritical to not appreciate the kids who bust their ass to dedicate themselves to what they want. And for what? So people can say, "That daddy's car?".

maybe it's because a VERY large percentage of 18yr olds are either partying or trying to pay for their "accidental" families.

51 years here, my second Z (after the first was totaled a year ago). I remember the 1970 240 Z's and always envyed the guys who had them. I had a 1965 Dodge station wagon. Only difference was I was able to fit more girls in my car than the Z ever did! heh heh heh..

Another boomer here . . . owned a '78 280Z about 15 years ago. My 1st kid was born so had to get rid of the two-seater for, hmmm, a mini-van. :o I wished I would have been able to keep it. Anyway, been itching to get another Z since so I bought one this past year. Yeah, I know, a "mid-life crisis" toy. :icon38:

Another boomer here born in '48. My first Z was a brand new 1970 240z (cost me about 4 grand then). Had it for 2 years then kids came along. Got a Mach 1 Mustang (with ram air package) it had a back seat perfect for infants with very short legs. Next was an 82 280zxTurbo, had that until 1990 when rust caught up with it. Currently own a 93 300zx and an 04 350Z (both convertibles). Use the 04 for road racing when my reguler track car is down. Love my Z's.

Thought I'd clean that pic of the 260z up for you a bit. Hope you don't mind.
