So I just bought a new 350z and it won't start.

Last sunday I bought a 2006.5 base 350z mt with 25 miles on it. This week I havent really been driving it but today I went cruising for an hour and parked the car on a street for a few minutes. Came back and the car would not start, battery is not dead everything powers up. You don't even hear the ignition make a noise like its trying to start up. Anyone ever had this problem or any idea on what it might be? Service department was closing when I towed it back to the dealership but they said they never had this problem before with a brand new car. I've been waiting years to be able to afford this car and the first time I go out to enjoy it, it breaks down.:icon16:

well for what ever reason its underwarrenty and hope that its a small problem.. did u put in cheap gas by any chance.. some people here had somewhat same prob. after fillin up with cheap gas

I haven't driven far enough to need to, only clocked 80 miles on the car. It came with a full tank.

Sounds like a battery, with enough juice to power your interior but not turn over your ignition.

If not your battery, it's probably your flux capacitor. Good thing it's under warranty, they are expensive.

damn that sucks, least its within warranty

I just changed my battery a couple of months ago, and as previously stated everything turned on inside, but no go. And it also did not make a 'click' sound. I say battery is a great place to start. The only other thing I can think of is if it's a manual if the safety switch under the clutch pedal magically broke off. :icon8: But for some reason that doesn't seem very likely. Let us know what happens.

its not the battery, even tried starting the car rolling at 5mph in 2nd gear

myZter Jan 20, 2007 07:27 PM

well we will have to see what the dealer says so keep us updated

tomiegunzz Jan 20, 2007 07:27 PM

If its an AT make sure its in park. If its a MT make sure to push the clutch in first.

dikspiel Jan 20, 2007 07:28 PM

the clutch was pushed in all the way...I tried countless times, even had the tow truck guy try and my friend who was with me tried

It happened to me when I first got the car. Sometimes it wouldn't start. I just let it sit for a good 5 min before I tried again, and it turned over. Haven't had the problem since...knock knock

Ztalker Jan 20, 2007 07:40 PM

keep us posted please.:)

Do you have gasoline in your car?

thats what I thought too so I waited 5mins, then 10, etc.. even tried at the dealership which was like 2 hours later.

The service manager is giving me a call tomorrow. I bought it from Universal City Nissan here in los angeles. Im sure they will take care of me, they are the biggest dealership and have been #1 for ages.

could be the key... but I'm not sure the symptoms match up for that....

The same thing happened to me with a new car before it ended up being a loose connection at the starter.

davidv Jan 20, 2007 09:02 PM

What is a 2006.5? How is it different from a 2006?

md350 Jan 20, 2007 09:07 PM

Sounds like a bad starter or a starter connection being loose. This happened with my Sentra, granted it wasn't new but same situation. The starter just died out...drove to the gas station, got gas, wouldn't turn on again.

In your case since its new its probably the connection. But it still could be a faulty starter off the line.
