Road Trip Report by Forum's Oldest Member
 

Saturday I took my 2 month old Z on a 105 mile road trip from Tucson to Phoenix. Road traveled was I10, which is two lanes in both directions. Speed limit is 75 in most places. Going up I averaged 80 to 85. Coming back I drove at a fairly steady 85. Following impressions given by someone who has driven Honda Civics since 1989: Strongly impressed by the way the car holds the road even when it was uneven or bumpy. I10 is not the smoothest road in many areas. The Z goes right where you aim it. No road vibration through the steering wheel. Firm feel of the road but totally vibration free. Awesome passing power, even at high speeds. A number of times I pulled out and passed a line of cars. Pushed the pedal and the Z's speed increased quickly and without hesitation. Cabin is quiet. Some tire and wind noise but nothing exceptional. I find the seat very comfortable. No fatigue at the end of the trip. AC works fine. Temperature in Phoenix and on the way home was 100+ . The display registered 106 degrees on the way home. Didn't set the mpg indicator for the trip but the display registered a combined mpg of 22.2 at the end of the trip. Figure the mpg was somewhat higher since the figure also included some around town driving.

Just wanted to give you some impressions by the oldest one on the forum. It is a great car. I am going to take very good care of it. If things work out right I might be buried in it when I die at 110.

As for my claim about being the oldest on the forum: If there is anyone over 70 on the forum I will gladly give up my title.

I'm 49, so I have a ways to go to beat you. But I'm counting on enjoying life in my 70's, 80's and 90's, hopefully driving a great car too. Of course, I'm hoping something else works then too. :eek:

Yes, something else works well and I hope it works as well when I am 90.

I've been using computers since the 80s when they had those 5 1/2 inch floppies. Its not the age its the attitude.

This is not the first time a negative comment about those of us over a certain age (uncertain as to exact number) talking about s-e-x has drawn such comments.

trains, nice report. I've had several trips over 500 miles but back always bothers me. You've got me on the age thing by 6 years.

dang ive never seen a 70 year old man use a computer haha but good to know the older community is still reping the Z

Actuarially speaking, a healthy 70 y.o. man has a better-than-50% chance of making it to 90. Keep on truck'n.
