A friend and i juss went to riverside (CA) toyota because he's thinking about getting the new xB. We're both 21 and just finished class over at UCR and were wearing shorts and t-shirts. The guy let us test drive it without checking insurance or grabbing our licenses. My dad wanted to test drive the new titans, but the dealer gave us a hard time so we just left (my dads about 50 with PERFECT credit). Pretty much what i am saying is, it varies from dealerships. some will be awesome while others will be total asses.

Thing is, it also matters what you drive into the dealership as well. I took my car in, clean as can be (to look like a trade in), and I was able to test drive an 06 GTO for almost half an hour I think.. (ended up catching a lot of traffic on the freeway). However, no matter what the case, be prepared to talk to the dealer a lot afterwards... unless you like looking like an ***hole and just leaving right away.

sure they'd let you test drive it, all they ask for is a valid drivers license.

Agreed. Even when I did end up buying the car, they didnt run my credit. (already pre-approved at a much lower rate than they could offer).

yes you can test drive it just take a parent with you i test drove one when i was 17 my step father atcted like we were really rich and he was gunna spoil the hell out of me. The salesman ate it up and i test drove one no problem.

Good luck. You could also find an ad on autotrader near you and go test drive it with a private owner.

I could see a saleman turning a test drive down to a 17 year old. At that age you hardly qualify to make more than $10 an hour, so without your parents theres no way in hell you could get close to paying the payment on a 40k vehicle. Better start mowing the lawns

Dear Mods,

can you guys please make a "Pipe Dreamer" or "Window Shopper" section for all the "So guys, I'm 16 and thinking about buying a $30K sports car" posts?
Honestly, I've been coming here since I "bought" my car in '04 and this place really has deteriorated from useful advice from actual 350 owners to a bunch of kids asking douche bag questions like the OP!

There is no way Hertz would rent a car to an 18 year old.

Hey Mods, can you please make a forum for jealous losers such as WYZIWYG. Stop hating on people just because they are more fortunate than you when you were a kid. The fact that he is in your opinion "spoiled" doesn't mean he wont work as hard as you or harder when he gets older.

Do not waste someone's time if you do not intend to buy! It is rude.

25. Unless you are on business which in that case they will let you slide as long as you are 18. Other wise, you may have to pay a surcharge.
