Didn't know ethnicity had anything to do with it.
What is it with the BS answers?
To those of you that gave a mature answer-thank you.
I'm going to do what I want, I just thought I'd get the opinions of those that already have a 350z.

If its well maintained and has no problems, then do it. The Z is a great car as long as it isnt your first car. Enjoy learning the car and its pros and cons so you're prepared to have it as a daily driver. Its def. way more power than your current car so being RWD... Icy conditions and snow is no longer feasible haha. I say DO IT!

Interestingly we don't know how many payments are left. There is no way we can determine if it is a good deal without knowing the terms of the purchase.
It sounds like (if it is an 04 and had a 5 year payment schedule with 270 a month payments and no big payment at the end) an amazing deal. You figure it has about 24 payments left. 10,000 + 24 x 270 = 16,480 (which is awesome). Plus you factor in present value of the payments, etc., and off the lot you're getting an '04 Z for less than 16k.
Thats one hell of a good price, especially for a car with 9000 miles. So, if you like the car, go for it. On the other hand, if I were pops I'd respect you more if you tried to bargain a little, just for the sake of bargaining.

The advantage you have though is that you know exactly how your dad drives and how he takes car of cars. If you buy somewhere else, you will have no clue where the car came from.

I've been posting on both Acura-legend.com and this forum about this. I forgot to mention on this forum that I will pay him the 10 grand, and finance his remaining balance in my name. I want it to report to my credit-not his. So basically I will finance his payoff figure. The payment could change, and probably will.
We did the same thing with my current car. When I bought my Acura, I had no credit and needed to be on his insurance. He put the car in his name and I made the payments to him, he made them to the bank. When I established some credit, we refinanced the car in my name with him as a cosigner, and I got my own insurance policy. Then a year or two later I paid off the car.
