Shifting

for those of us who have been shifting gears practically our entire lives... downshifting/revmatching is no big deal and second nature.... along with heel-toe downshifting
I would not recommend rowing through every single gear tho, that is unnecessary unless you're road racing/raging.
Coasting in neutral is noobish... unless of course you're roughly at or below 15mph and finishing off a stop. Engine braking saves gas and gives you more control over the car should you need to accelerate or maneuver. Just don't lug the engine by letting the RPM fall too low while in gear. A typical scenario is 6th > 3rd > neutral....
Once at a stop it's best to be in neutral and release the clutch pedal so you don't put unnecessary wear on the throwout bearing. It's not good to keep the clutch pedal depressed for extended periods. When it's almost time to accelerate push the clutch in and wait for the tranny to stop spinning... then select 2nd then first...

Almost, but not quite. I can easily do the former without even thinking about. Not so much the later.
If you're really good at revmatching, it doesn't take much to realize heel-toeing is just an extension of that.... nothing changes except the fact you have your foot on the brake and you blip the throttle with the side of your foot..... it's still basically the same exact thing.

im with the rev matching crowd. i do it without really thinking about it. usually i downshift to fourth and engine brake down to about 1500 rpms and put it in neutral. plus i like the sound of engine braking. i never scream it while engine braking.
at lower speed roads (25-35mph zones) i just downshift it one gear from what i was cruising in

You guy should be ashamed to think like this and own a Z. A proper rev match isnt hard on the tranny, its very smooth, and a proven way of slowing down. Keep on popping N when coming to a stop grandma...

I downshift to 3rd at around 40mph which is about 2500 RPM and let it come down to 1200-1500 and go into neutral, at which point the car is going pretty slow.
