Default Why not reset the Ecu, everytime u shut off the car

This might be a little simplistic, but aren't people dynoing good gains when they 1st do the mods, but after a while the ecu will, correct the extra power??? how long after?? could u not just disconnect, the negative, on the battery and that would reset the ecu back to when the mods gained hp? sure u'd have to reset the clock, and all that shananigans but, if it keeps the power to the wheels, who cares???
