How do you know that you don't have a 2004.5?

J/K - there are some true 04's that have the knee pads so I'd have to assume there are some others floating around with other early cosmetic differences.

Didn't they fix the Tire Feathering issue in the 2004.5? Or was that the 2005.5?

Yikes. I just did a search and the general consensus is that 2004.5 should have gotten rid of the problem. Did you check your VIN # to make sure its a 2004.5? Did you buy it new or pre-owned?

i checked the VIN# and I definetly have an 2004.5, bought it new in April 04. I had the alignment/front new tires at no charge by the stealership at 20k miles, now I'm at 37K with a loud roar from the uneven wear on the inside of the front tires.

Have you checked your front end alignment lately? I'm willing to bet that the toe setting is way out of spec again.

Exactly. My Z is also a 04.5.

i'm sure is out of spec, but i'm getting new 19's wheels/tires. Should I get an alignment now with the OEM 18's? or should I wait to have it done with the new 19's on the car?

Mine's a 2006.5, which means it was the last version to have the VQ35DE, rather than the new HR motor. Obviously, as the years go by, Nissan only makes improvements.

Wait. Your 19's are likely wider and have more aggressive offsets which will affect your camber.
