Should I do it?

I have been keeping my eye on a '03 silver touring with 15k om it here for a week. Its at a dealer, how offended do you think they will be if I offer them $16,000 for it? What would be a good buy on this car?

About the window issue. So a greasey, oiley stripe up the window is a tell tale sign of window issues? On inside or outside of glass? The tranny issue would be covered under the 60k warrenty correct? And just keep the tires rotated consistently?

What do you guys think?

Azn_Empurio 10-23-2007 11:07 PM

at $16k and that mileage is pretty good man...

ZKC 10-23-2007 11:10 PM

I just meant start out at $16000 and see how they respond. They have had it sitting around for a while, so just seeing how bad they want to move it. I dont want to shut them down though, so was wondering if $16000 is too low to start.

rlw222 10-23-2007 11:20 PM

No! you can always go up :icon38:

york1005 10-23-2007 11:31 PM

You should give it a try, what do you got to lose rite...and if they don't accept, you can all work it out from there...good luck

gregtotheb 10-23-2007 11:41 PM

16k is not too low, just do it. if its been there a while then im sure theyre entertaining any offers.

razgriz 10-24-2007 02:47 AM

16k sounds really good for that model, I remember I got my performance for 21k, used but with 13k on the odo 2 years ago. What is there asking price?

davidv 10-24-2007 04:33 AM

15,000 miles is about 313 miles/month. The Z is a weekend driver that has been sitting in someone’s garage. Its going to cost you.

GodSendsDeath 10-24-2007 04:35 AM

Just buy a 08, the more on the road the better the aftermarket for us all!!!

thrill350z 10-24-2007 05:59 AM

in 2005 I paid $21,000 for a 2003 with 30k miles on it.
Always happy with the car, no issues

+1

$16,000 would be a heck of a good buy. Go ahead and offer it to them. The worse they can do is laugh and walk away. Kind of like when I approach a woman in a bar.
Re. issues with '03's and what's covered under warranty, I know there have been a lot of posts on here about those issues. Try doing a search.
Re.tire rotation, it's my understanding it shouldn't be done. The backs are a different size from the fronts so you can't rotate front to back. The treads are unidirectional so can't rotate side to side unless, I guess, you take the tires off the rim. Expect about 25,000 miles on those tires.
If you want, if you are in Kansas City, PM me and I might be able to give you some insight to some of the local dealers. One in particular is very bad. I've read a lot of negatives about them here and on other boards.

What do you mean by the "its going to cost you"? The low miles going to bring out some unexpected costly issues? Let me know. I appreaciate the advice.

No. The owner will ask for more than a 2003 with 45,000 miles. I imagine that the exterior is in excellent condition.

The Brickyard Rat 10-24-2007 08:09 AM

Be sure you have the car checked out by a mechanic you trust & pay.

russhoopes 10-24-2007 08:25 AM

i paid 24K for a 2003 Brickyard Touring Z w/ 14K on the odo. and my car before that was a Chrome silver 2003 Touring w/ 60K and that was 19K

Oh ok I got ya. The exterior is in good condition except for two parallel scratches on the back hatch just right of the emblem about an inch and a half in length. The front lip is another story though. Lots of scrapes from parking too close to curbs.

Agentman03 10-24-2007 05:28 PM

Make me an offer I can't refuse ?

Take it for a ride , offer the 16, and tell them your going to buy a z and you like it but your still going looking , and give them your phone number and 1st they will go to the manager and do a credit check on you, and then make you a counter offer and tell you they got more than that in it ... leave .. you probably will get a call a couple days later with a true ball park price + of what they will take for it out the door ... good luck ...

RJ_KC 10-25-2007 02:14 PM

I'm guessing this is the Z sitting on 7 Hwy in Blue Springs? if so that thing has been there forever...i always wondered if something was wrong with it to have it sit so long.

be careful!

davidv 11-30-2007 05:58 AM

Did you make an offer for the car?
What happened?

ZKC 11-30-2007 06:11 PM

The Z sold. I offered them $16 (the dealer dropped the price to $17898) they wouldnt accecpt it so I walked. Someone came in and bought it. Still kicking myself for not being more aggressive.

ace350z 11-30-2007 07:35 PM

damn, i got my 03 touring with 13k for 21k a month or so ago

ZKC 11-30-2007 10:53 PM

Yeah I am upset I let a low low mile garage queen slip through my figers. But it was an early production 03 so maybe it was for the best. Who knows.

skn5002 12-01-2007 07:33 AM

Wow...that's a good price:icon9: . But just look on the bright side...that car could've came with a boat load of troubles. It wasn't meant to be

Basically the owner still has emotional attachment to the Z and will sell it as some kind of rare car with low miles thus overcharging for it right?

jimmy B 12-02-2007 01:24 AM

I would shoot for an 05.

Don't give up. Keep your eyes open for the right 350Z.

careful with this. not sure if 03's wheels are staggered but if they are you won't want to be rotating them [front to back, back to front]

Yes, they are staggered, so you're right, no rotating front to back

Kinraze 03-10-2008 03:35 PM

Isn't the warranty 60k miles or 5 years? The warranty might be up on that 03.

jmccartney 04-27-2008 09:59 AM

I paid 20,000 for my 2003 350Z and it only had 13,000 on the odometer. It now has 15,700. I drive 60 miles a day but just got promoted so I will only be driving 5 miles a day! The car had every option but brembo's. Nav, heated seats, etc. . . .

kaizenro1 04-27-2008 10:40 AM

Spend the extra $70 a month on the loan for a newer 05ish Z. Shoot, even the 05 is out of warranty huh?
