My wife doesn't want to ride in the Z

I'm getting the vibe she is not too keen to go on trips in the Z - mainly because of the bouncy ride :icon04: :icon04: :icon04:. We are going away tomorrow for a long weekend - guess we will put it to the test.

I'm wondering if we should'nt take her new Camry instead - I don't want to put her off for life. A fix for the ride will come out one day.... I hope.

I'm curious if other owners partners are the same?

It's the opposite for me, I can't get her to stop askin' me if SHE could drive.....

My wife also owns a Camry and I'd much rather take it on trips. You can drive faster without getting busted, it's a quiet smooth ride,. and I don't have to worry about it when I park it.

Now for short trips under 120 miles the Z is great. Also if I'm alone I'll take it on every trip.

My wife is weird. She doesn't mind if I set the cruise at 90 with the Camry but if I drive fast in the Z she freaks out and gets pissed!

My wife is the World Champ of Wants/needs Creature Comforts & she does fine with the Z. Actually seems to enjoy it.

I just don't have the bouncy ride problem but I have a feeling its NorCali roads which are pretty good.

I think we are married to the same person......I guess I will give way and take the Camry - I can get my golf clubs in it as well all the luggage we seem to take - should be good. We are going to the wine region in the south of Western Australia - got a very up market villa (spa etc) right on Geograph Bay. It is winter here but very mild weather - still light a log fire at night.

Opposite problem of you guys

My fiance hates riding in the Z, He says it is the roughest riding SOB. When he drives he still dislikes it...says the leather seats are too firm and uncomfortable...He does like the heated seats..but only short rides on sunny days for him. I don't know what he's talking about ..I love the ride..it IS a sports car you know. BTW he drives a lexus SC 300....Yes that is a comfortable long drive car and yes it has more room...but soooooo boring to drive. Marcy

My girlfriend and I carpool to work everyday in the Z, and she doesn't mind too much except when I get to the twisties. Then, she starts to open the bottled water, open containers of Cheerios, stop holding down fragile items we may be carrying and so on, all in a pitiful attempt to get me to slow down around the corners. I don't care so much about any fragile items, but food rolling around the car is unacceptable. So, her ploy is often succesful. Every once in a while I have to get a little tire squeal just to make sure she's on her toes, though.

My GF loves to ride in my Z. We just got back from a short (300 mi)road trip today. About half of it was up Hwy 1 on the CA coast and half of it was over a twisty mountain road back home. It was the most fun I've had in a long time and she said she loved it!!:D

Sounds to me like you should find yourself a new wife.

The perfect car doesn't come around all to often and you can't let something as minor as a woman you love get in the way of your enjoyment of it. :p Just sit her down in the passenger seat, get out, take picture, bring her picture, show her how good she looks in your good car, and you're set. I mean look at all the hell women go through to look good, they'll sit through a slightly bouncy ride just to blow kisses from the window.

If not, I know of a really good order-a-bride magazine I could send you.

Let me know how things work out for you.

samw1978 Jun 5, 2003 10:13 PM

My gf actually loves the boucy ride a lot more :p
But if I were you, I'd take the camry for a trip, it's a lot more comfortable and you won't get too much attention from cops

The fix is already here! Buy/install a set of Eibach springs for $200 and watch her smile!! No more :icon04: Regards, Jim

Did they really fix the ride? What about the shock abs? did you change them as well?

JimH Jun 5, 2003 11:49 PM

Bounce?

Yes, the Eibach springs nicely remove that annoying porpoising/pogo ride. I have not yet replaced the shocks, but will do so as soon as the Eibach shocks hit the market for the 350. This will be soon. Regards, Jim

I'm getting them.....They are made in Australia believe it or not!

jleighZ Jun 6, 2003 04:36 AM

haha, it's my car and I refuse to take long trips in it :p I can't even drive around in town without getting a headache from the bouncing, so I can't imagine driving down interstate.

majones Jun 6, 2003 05:08 AM

My wife likes to ride in the Z, but she absolutely will not drive it! Can you believe it? She won't say why, but I suspect it's because she would be nervous driving it with me sitting next to her, watching her every move.

Anyone else have this happen?

Mark

I love my Z. :D Only complaint I've got is the minor understeer, but that will be corrected shortly with my S-Tune set up.

I even noticed the other day that my car has a MUCH stiffer ride than hubby's Z28 and he's got aftermarket springs. I like the way mine rides better, but I think hubby is partial to his.
