Ok, little confused... Base or Enthusiast? *Not normal question*
Ok, i know this has been gone over time and time again. But i think i have a diff situation.
I just bought an 05 350z. Ive read all about the diff in models, but mine has a mix?
I thought it was the enthusiast but now im concerned. It is a carbon silver 05, with HID's but no Cruise control... It has the aluminum pedals...but no auto-dimming rear view mirror. Im a little concerned that its a base with added **** on it.
How can i tell the difference in the differential by looking at it?
Thanks

Its silverstone then, my mistake.
No i definetly didnt get lied to, they just didnt know what it was. And when i saw the HID's and pedals i thought it was an enthusiast. But upon further inspection...guess not.
Even being a base, i still got a really good deal for it. So whatever, im still happy.

Happened to me too. The salesman claimed it was a touring model, but it was a base. He wasn't malicious I don't believe - it has premium wheels and after-market leather, but still...he didn't know his crap about the car, and thus lost my respect.
I still bought it, but only after I'd talked him down a couple grand on the "touring model," then busted him about it really being a base and got a little more off.
If you're happy with the Z even if it's a base, no worries then. However, if it's buggin you there's one thing you might check: If the trim level is in the contract anywhere, you may have grounds for a misrepresentation of the product, and could potentially have some legal recourse (I would think.)

That's why you should do some research before you buy a car.... One of the local forum members purchased an 07 Z and was telling everyone it was a track model. We all know there's no track model, but he honestly thought so and when i saw the car and talked to him I realized that it was actually a base Z just like mine and he purchased it from the same dealership as me for $2k more than me OTD. Same price of an enthusiast all cause he was told it was a "track" model...crazy.

The enthusiast model also came equipped with a VLSD (viscous limited slip differential), while the base mdel has an open diff. Besides showing a LOT more wheelspin, you could always put the rear end up on jackstands and check it.
Living in Colorado, I'm very happy to have a VLSD for those snowy and icy patches on the road! It also helps at the track.

Oh well, like i said it was a steal either way. It wasnt advertised as a enth. or in any contract. So it was just for me to determine, and i knew it was between the two. It was just werid to me seeing some of the enth. stuff on it. Like i said, i dont really care. Its an awsome car, i love it, and was still an awsome price IMO.
