In 98 I had a 91 Toyota Camry. and I went through more to fix it then I did to buy it. Why in the hell was I racing my friends Mazda 626 from St. Pete, florida to Tampa....blew a head gasket halfway through. Just a domino affect to more problems. HAHAHA. Those were the days.

I'm 27 now and my parents got me a $1k 1984 Ford Escort wagon (it could have been an '86 but I can't remember) when I was 17. It was a very pale yellow and had a 3-speed automatic. It's top speed (gear limited) was around 75 mph and I drove the hell out of it. I would scare my friends on twisty mountain roads and do FWD versions of donuts in empty parking lots (ie, I drove really fast in circles).
One memory I have of it is after I changed the oil. A little must have spilled because when I was driving up the mountain going home from school one day the engine started smoking really bad. I decided to press on and eventually the fire went out with minimal damage to the underside of the hood.
Another memory I have is when I was on C470 and the passenger front tire blew out. I pulled over but couldn't get the spare to detatch from it's place in the back. I ended up driving for over two miles to a gas station to call my dad for assistance (can you imagine what it was like without cell phones?). I was driving on just the rim for at least the last mile and, amazingly, all we needed was fresh rubber and I was good to go.
Alas, the good times were short lived. One night while driving a friend home the car died. Just sputtered out and died. I checked the fluids and there weren't any. This seemed odd to me at the time as I had topped them off before going out that day. I filled up liquids and ended up staying at my friends place. The next morning the car was still dead and fluidless (again). Somehow the block cracked and twisted up enough that it couldn't hold oil or coolant. My parents ended up donating the car to the boys and girls club for a writeoff.
Good times.

be happy about that mine was a 1984 volvo station wagon Dl the paint was flying off the hood on to my windshield, so i had to keep the wipers on everytime i drove, 400,000 miles btw so you could tell what kind S**** condition it was in $150 car.

27 now. My first ride was a 89 Toyota Camry when I got my permit at 16. Engine won't start for no reason, driver side window doesn't work, radio is busted, and overheats in the summer. But it got a V6 and 2 backseats, was just happy to have a car.

20 now, but I had a puke green 1978 Mercury Zephyr when I was 16. It had the bench seats and the front bench seat was broken. The driver side of it always slid slightly forward when braking then went back after you stopped or started going. I was trying to race it the first day I had my license and got my license taken away for a year. Thing was a beast. I knocked over every trash can within a 3 mile radius one night with that thing and didn't even have a dent on it! I blew up the motor on it and then got a 1993 Honda Prelude Si (which I still have).
