Angry Noise *****UPDATE

When slowing down in ur Z... Do you have a roaring sound.. I am assuming it is the pipes.. It does it when down shifting... But it stops once u get to about 10mph... So i dont think it is the tires.. I only have 4800mi on my car...

Thanks

Ok.. i went and got my oil changed today.. and after i left i remembered about the tire noise... so i pulled over and looked at my tires for the first time really.. I noticed the discoloration on the inside tread and when i run my hand down the tread it is not smooth... it feels like the tread is on different levels... So i called back my service advisor and told him of this.. He tells me that these cars eat tires and brakes.. and that many z owners have to get an alignment every 8000 miles.. I advised him i only have 5300 miles on my car and that was nonsense to have to do that.. Especially at 89.99 per alignment.. I advised him the waranty on the tires is 1/4 tread wear or 1 year.. and the warranty for alignment is 12000mi or 1 year... He said they would have to check the car to see if it was caused due to driving habit.. I advised him that that is not the case..and any problems at this milage should not even be a question as to where the car will be fixed under warranty.. it was just purchased on dec 10 2007. He said to bring it in Monday and let his manager look at it... He is the asst. manager.. I do not want to have to fight with this.. It should be an open and shut case.. What do you guys think... Thanks.. i am very frustrated. thanks guys.

Realize you are in a Roadster - there is much more road noise than in a coupe. You are probably hearing either a: tire rumble (normal), b: exhaust rumble, or c: airplane flying overhead (LOL).

Did you just notice it - or has it been there since you bought it?

Your description is a bit vague. Is this something new that you recently noticed? Of course, when you downshift there's going to be more engine and tranny sound. Seriously, the Z wasn't designed to be quiet. It's part of the sports car experience. So if you can be more specific, maybe we can help you.

If the pitch of the noise correlates with the rpm, it is probably engine or exhaust noise. If it correlates with the speed of the car(probably), it is most likely tire rumble. Sometimes that isn't heard very well until the air flow noise and engine noise subside. With 4800 miles it's unlikely to be brake noise, especially if its always been there.

Just turn up the radio and you won't hear it.

HA.. LOL... I think it has always been there.. I just happen to notice it more this weekend because i was on a road trip... I know what tire noise sounds like.. I had a problem with that on a car before.. It kinda goes with the speed of the car.. This doesnt so i am pretty sure it is the exhaust/engine...

Thanks guys..
