Be a nice z'er and give me some advice
 

I have a low income, but I make enough....I can either do one of two things...

1) sell my 280z for hopefully at least 4.5k, and use most of this to put more down and BUY the 2003. Down side: I would have to drive the car to school (Im the teacher) and I risk getting it damaged via some method.

2) keep the 280z, LEASE the new 2003...then use the 280 to drive to school and soak up extra miles. Downside: when Im done driving the 280, Itll be worth nothing with rockchips, 250k miles etc.

why don't you sell the 280, and buy a used civic or accord. Then lease the Z?

Or you could park the 350Z some distance from school and then walk to class.:D

Or you could put a viper alarm on it and when some punk kid comes by say something (i can't think of anything right now)

As I see it, it's really only between options 1 and 2...if you can swing the Z, you gotta do it. You'll hate yourself if you don't...especially when one blows by your little ricer. As far as picking between the other two, it depends on your anxiety about driving your baby to work. Personally, I've always felt that cars are meant to driven, not stared at (well...driven and stared at). Also, that's what insurance is for. You're paying some insurance company alot of money for peace of mind, so enjoy it.

BUY THE 350Z
 

Buy the car. It won't be new forever.You can always fix it up if it gets dinged over time. Meanwhile, YOU WILL HAVE A 350Z. You will have no regrets later. Do something nice for yourself. Afterall, don't you deserve it after putting up with students day in and day out ?



It will be an unforgetable experience. I am sure.

Sell the 280, and buy the car... I don't understand the dilemma here...

The 350 will be my only car, and I really don't understand people that will drive an ugly crap car as their daily driver and only drive the 350 during weekends.

I will enjoy my 350 EVERY DAY... no matter where I go. I mean, give me a break... the 350 ain't no Ferrari. It is a $30k car. There are MANY cars used as daily drivers that are more expensive than the 350z.

I can understand the 350 will be a "ferrari" to some people, and it'll be the most expensive vehicle they will ever own. That's ok too, but then I wouldn't buy the Z...

To really own a Ferrari costing $250,000+, you need to be making more than that per year... Think. If you only make $30k a year, don't get the Z... you'll be strapped for cash. But if you make around $60k or so, why not??? Enjoy life, and enjoy the 350z... but my all means... don't leave it as your garage queen!

Personally, I wouldn't lease a car unless the option to buy at the end of the lease was better financially than buying outright. You have to be really anal about keeping scratches and dings off the car if you plan to return it at the end of the lease without penalty. Also, the mileage limit is annoying but I guess you wouldn't have that problem with the second car. Selling the 280 and buying a daily beater car is not a bad idea. If you want to keep your 350Z for many years, as I do, the chips, scratches and wear from daily driving will pile up over time. You also increase the risk of being in a wreck since people drive like asses during rush hour traffic. Also, you have to worry about keeping all season tires on the car for those rainy days. If these things don't bother you, a 350Z daily driver is your answer. Vandalism is something insurance will take care of.

Sell the 280, buy the 350. You love it, you want it, submit to your sick pleasures and desires...

You gotta do what your budget allows you to do. If you buy or lease the Z, which ever is the best option for you, can you afford the payments? Being able to keep both cars is a luxury and if you can afford that luxury then by all means go for it. If not then trade or sell the 280 (selling probably the best option). Sounds like you're pretty attached to the 280 though. Again, your budget will dictate what you should do. But, you have to be willing to accept what it tells you. It's a bitter sweet thing.

No offense rp, but the 280z is not worth anything. That's what is good about being an original z enthusiast! We are a select few, but our hobby is pretty cost effective. I would keep the z if you can. You are probably not going to get any of the money you put into it if you sell it. Unless maybe you have some other z enthusiast in mind with deep pockets.

Sell the 280 for whatever you can get for it, then buy or lease based on your finances. Leasing is only a good deal if you don't want to keep the car, and you are deciding right now that you plan to give it back. Otherwise you will end up paying waaaaay too much for the car if you plan to buy it when your lease is up.

i highly recommand u to keep the 280 cuz u don't drive such a nice car like that to school as u are a teacher, one student is enough to ruin ur new car just becuz he jealous.

and c'mon, park ur car in a farther lot isn't a good idea at all cuz it becomes annoy when u have to park ur car somewhere and u walk to school between the distance almost everyday, then u gotta worry if ur car is ok when u are teaching.:o

Good point about driving to school, but Mr. G also owns a Honda Civic he could drive.

i am making payments on the civic and believe it or not the civic is expensive to insure (its an si) besides the damn car is green and I cant make both payments simultaneously any way

i suggest you get the 2003z, yet find out some where else to park it, i'm having similar concerns about parking my 2003 z at my university, but, it is a price im willing to take. you might want to consider installing one of those pager things that goes off, whenever your car alarm goes off..............atleast thats what im doing with mine.

if u think kids r gonna rack ur car, then dun buy it~ and there is no pt of driving ur old car on the week days and only drive the 350z on the weekends. it's just waste of $ to buy a car that u dun drive much, and just to look at~ To be hornest, i am a student, i bought a Jaguar X-Type 3.0 last summer, and i found it really hard to drive it to school, cause i didn't want to risk parking in the student parking lot, and i have to park in those staff/vistor parking which cost alot. at the end of the school yr, i decided to trade in the jag and get the 350z, which is more low profile, and cheaper car. And i think there is no pt of keeping two car, one is enough, enjoy it everyday.

It depends on how bad a school you teach at. My sister-in-law drove an escort to school in NYC and got the spoiler ripped off. On the bright side if you don't dig the fixed mast antenna it looks like an easy target for vandels. I would keep the old car and buy the new Z. You can get a discount on your insurance by stating your 350Z is a pleasure car save wear and tear on the car and it will last you a long long time:)

Buy, don't lease the Z. Drive it every day for 10 years and put 100K miles on it. That is what I have done. I traded my 260Z in with 90K miles when I got a 944. I put 105K miles on my 88 300ZX before it was stolen. I have 30K miles on my 2000 Maxima which I will be giving to my wife when I get my Z and she will put another 70K miles on it. I will then put 100K miles on my 350Z. Nissan makes great cars that last forever, and if you plan on putting a 100K miles on a car, its a lot easier not to sweat the little scratches and dings because you know they are going to show up eventually. Plus if you plan on putting 100K miles on the Z, it makes the Z cost seem more reasonable on a teacher's salary.

Getting a 2003 enthusiast 350Z. Planning on purchasing a 2012 performance 600Z.

I am thinking about a Used Motorcycle for a commuter. Obviously I can't drive a motorcycle everyday, but Its good for at least half my commutes, thus keeping the mileage down and reducing the chances of something happening to the car...Oh yeah..I always wanted a Ninja anyway...

I asked about leasing when I paid my deposit and the dealer said nissan isn't leasing any Z's for awhile, only selling outright.
