How much is everyone paying to register their Z's?

California I heard is going to triple the cost to register a car, so I was wondering how much everyone is paying for their Z registration. I remeber paying around $200 to register my old car. I just need to know if I am going to have to get another job just to pay for the registration of my 2 cars.

I've seen someone post that they have to pay $626 (California) and $79 (IL). Just seems so crazy that it varies so much. Thanks for you input Duflacci, my registration will be up in November. I hope it is around $300 too.

75 bucks for me in Texas

90260Z Jun 27, 2003 03:29 PM

Wow...Why do california people pay so much? Where does the money go?

Blue350zCali Jun 27, 2003 03:54 PM

I know, I cant believe it's so expensive. Any other Californians pay for their registration yet?

lhapp Jun 27, 2003 03:56 PM

Montana - $233

90260Z Jun 27, 2003 03:59 PM

Yep...so expensive here in CA, not to mention that we pay the higher gas price as well.....On top of that, the State are full of gang bangers.

Drumtemp Jun 27, 2003 04:04 PM

Paid $274 in May when I bought my Z.

The Calif. fee is a total scam IMO. Several years ago the DMV purchased a multi million $ computer system that didn't work. Don't know if they ever got it fixed.
All us Cali's want to know how the Gov went from a 38 billion dollar surplus to a 38 billion dollar deficit! Thats $76 billion squandered away to...where & what?

Arrrghhhhhhhhh!!

50-something bux here in Ohio (w/ personalized plate).

In Mississippi, my mom was paying $300+ annually for my Frontier. For her Caddy, it is a lot more (I think like $600) because it's a luxury car.

In IL, for passenger cars

Initial registration & title = $143
Yearly renewal = $79

no discount for multiple vehicles :/

Blue350zCali Jun 27, 2003 06:05 PM

Discount? You dont need a discount if it's only $79. :o I could only wish mine was under $100. ;)

Arizona has some of the highest regristration fees in the nation....

$550 for mine....

October is coming up soon and I'll need to do it again... should be about $490 this year. It drops each year as the value of the car goes down

Lee3Z Jun 28, 2003 12:37 PM

In Louisiana registration lasts for 2 years and costs about $50.

neohalo1 Jun 28, 2003 02:19 PM

Wow...Why do california people pay so much? Where does the money go?
...into Gov. Gray Davis' secret personal account!

My registration I believe was 260.00 or close to that.

cheeves Jun 28, 2003 08:39 PM

Just got my renewal notice today, as a matter of fact. Took delivery in April, so I wasn't sure how much they were going to nick me for..$158.00...I can live with that.

EnthusiastZ Jun 28, 2003 08:54 PM

Ad Valorem tax exempt :D $21

Blue350zCali Jun 29, 2003 07:22 PM

I wonder why the fees vary so much from $25 all the way up to $1710:eek: . I guess I will have to wait to see how much mine is going to be, thanks for all the input.
