I've been getting alot better since I had wrote my "Having trouble with manual" thread. It is amazing how practicing everyday can make you so much better. I wanted to make this thread because I have already searched about the 1st to 2nd shift that I am still having trouble with getting down perfect, and I found a thread about that.

But my question to you guys is that I am having trouble when I shift, for example I will shift from say 2nd to 3rd. After shifting to third I then let off the clutch, as I feel the clutch get back to the engagement point I start to add gas. My problem is that it is hard to tell when I reach that engagement point, where I can add gas. What I end up doing is shifting then when letting the clutch out, I add gas, and since the Z's engagement point is a little high, I will add gas before the engagement point and i will rev up a few hundred rpms and then it will drop down.

keep practicing, you will get a feel for the clutch and it will be 2nd nature.

not sure what advice you need...you already know what you are doing wrong. i guess you could release the clutch a little quicker or don't gas it so early. just practice not doing it. you'll get it eventually :)

its kinda hard to drive the Z......after i drive my honda

compared to the honda's i've driven, this clutch has no feeling and the high engagement makes it a little harder

just let the exhaust scream to about 45 if you're bragging. If you aren't, just shift when it feels like the motor is being challenged. It's really now about saving gas at 4 dollars a gallon

dunno...after driving for a while, shifting just comes natural to me

i would be easier for me to explain quantum physics to you then explain how to drive a stick. i have driven both a manual z and my current auto z. i didn't find the manual z significantly different than other sticks, but i learned on a '69 vette (not mine and no way in hell, now that i know how to drive one, would i let someone "learn" that way again.)
