I used to drive 05 350z with auto tranny I always thought that I should get the manual Z so I finally got 08 350z with manual tranny but I am very disappointed with my car even one of my friend test drove and he told me that car seems slower than old 05 auto 350z
this is my last car from nissan no more too many problems and headache

Nothing like spanking a Z06 in autocross & the look on the other driver's face when they find out I've got an A/T . . . PRICELESS!

Do people even realize the GT-R only comes in A/T? Can't wait to get a paddle shifter installed on my Z . . . there's at least two, possibly three, different variations being developed right now. This will be the coolest functional mod ever on a Z . . .

Woah... what? The 07+ had uprated engine specs didn't they? The manual should 'feel' a bit faster than an auto i'd think... depends on how its being driven too though. But your having lots of problems with the Z? Compared to lots of other domestic cars i've seen its pretty damn reliable.

He has a roadster, which is why it feels slow according to him.

Yea, I'm looking forward to that too
Also, one of mods that I have enjoyed the most is the valve body upgrade (I have Stillen's, but I know there are others out there) I had done a few months back. Makes gear changes really crisp, going both up AND down through the gears. Kinda surprised more people here havn't taken advantage of that. Very worthwhile IMHO.
(and yes, occasionally I wish I had a MT, but overall, the 5AT makes a fun but practical DD.)

0-60 is the same in Manual vs Automatic, so not much speed advantage there.

I have never had Tranny/Clutch problems with any of my manual cars, and when your AT tranny goes, im gonna be in the back laughing at your empty pockets cuz those repairs arent cheap, compared to MT. no thanks

As stated earlier, get what ya want, but bear this in mind... suppose one day you "ball real hard" and get a some high priced exotic... actually, the heck with that, suppose one day you up grade to a hig end porshe/corvette/Lotus or a sports car most Z owner agreed is an "worthy" upgrade from the Z, are you gonna "ho hum" a AT still? Learn now and you don't have to worry poor guys like me (in mini-vans) pointing out to my fat wife (please God don't let this happen) that "that clown has a $75K sports car and, obviously, can't even drive a stick..." and avoid killing a way more expensive tranny...

...please God, a skinny wife

Thumbs up

The reason for the "about-the-same-speed" between the AT & the MT is that
the Auto tranny Zed has a 274ft/lbs-torque engine, vs. a 260ft/lbs-torque one for the Manual one! In city driving/freeway jams, that's when you're glad
you got the AT at your service! OF COURSE, I'm 59, so the MT is out of the
question. Creature comforts are much more important to me now than when I
was 19, 29 or even 39!!!

I got a question about driving tiptronic. Do you have to let go of the gas when shifting?
