I didn't total my Z!
 

Yeah, I drove it today, and remarkably, I didn't get into an accident.

There seem to be one post after another of people crashing their cars, some by being idiots, and others just having bad luck.

The Z is a fast, high performance car. It begs to be driven hard. I recommend for those that have the need to answer that calling, check out local autocross or track events in your area where you can safely learn the handling characteristics of the Z and learn some performance driving skills.

In the case of the guy who swerved to avoid the oncoming truck, maybe that might have helped him keep control of the car and avoid the accident. Who knows.

I have yet to autocross my Z, but I intend to as I am not used to driving RWD. I want to know how this car is going to respond to my inputs when the time comes. However, some basic techniques I have learned from autocrossing keep me safer on the road in general. For instance, I hardly ever have to "smash" the brakes as I am always looking 3-4 cars ahead, not just what the car in front of me is doing (for those that never autocrossed, one needs to always be looking ahead to set up for the next gate).

Fortunately, most of the posts of people wrecking their cars, there have been no serious injuries which obviously speaks well for the Z's crash safety. But how many of them could have been avoided if the driver understood what his car was going to do, or if he just didn't do something stupid in the first place.
