it all goes on the car tommorrow. more stuff is en route. PLEASE tell me it eventually ends.

350zSpeedRacer Jul 17, 2003 09:52 AM

It NEVER ends. :D BTW, you definitely need to get that stuff in route. lol

Don't feel bad--at least you waited to get your car before you started with the aftermarket mods. I had several parts WAITING for my car to even arrive!

if you have time, can you take pictures of the steps to install those parts. it would be helpful for others.

just a thought.

I'll do my best. I installed the plenum last night it was pretty easy. I can shoot some pics of it installed today.

just curious, whats the advantage of the plenum? Just for looks?
also what happen to the engine cover?

it supplies more air to the front cylinders....the car is noticeable faster and torquier(sp?) also, when the SC eventually goes on a bigger plenum will allow more air into the chambers. the cover is now sitting on a shelf. Crawfords dyno shows 20 HP gain at 4000 RPM after ECU auto re-adjustment even.

more good stuff just showed up:

question. which supercharger are you going to put on. that strut brace won't fit on if you are looking at putting on the procharger. you are going to have to have one customer made to fit.

also, in my opinion....that plenum looks botched. i know that's welding....but hopefully they will clean up that welding and make it look a little better (as in more smooth). without that cover...i think it looks naked!! haha.

toys toys toys.....no, they never end. as for me. next weekend....the 7 inch lcd screen, tv tuner, dvd player, and new head unit will go in (along with the nismo kit that's being painted and whatnot).

question for anyone here.....that street scene grill on the bumper...will that fit on the nismo bumper? if so...i'm gonna get it. i have the grille-tech grill...but that's not going to work (i don't think). it needs to be secured to the horizontal braces on the oem front bumper. will the street scene one work even thought the nismo bumper only has one horizontal support?

thanks for your info....

the grill wont fit the nismo bumper. When prochager time comes I will have someone make me a different strut brace. the plenum is a performance mod, I think it looks cool actually. it has provided an appreciable performance gain for a low price and hassle free install.as far as the engine cover -who cares? I am not building a showcar i want performance.

djkern Jul 17, 2003 12:33 PM

i guess i can always test fit it with the grille tech grill i have. they are the same shape....i acn see if that will fit on the nismo kit...if so, i'll put it in. i'm getting mixed answers. some say "yes it will fit"...others say "no, it won't". i guess i'll have to wait and test it myself.

the stillen grill is 1 piece heavy aluminum mesh that snugs up against the front grill slats and attaces to the back lips of the hole in the bumper with metal clips.

the nismo front end has got that cross bar and license plate piece molded in flush with the front of the nose. and the grill needs to fit inside of that.

you might be able to cut the grill into 2 pieces and then figure out a way to attach it from the backside with safety wire or clip ties, but that grill is pretty thick no way to do it with say tinsnips, it would just deform as you cut it. maybe a bandsaw would work?

djkern Jul 17, 2003 12:48 PM

maybe i can install the grille-tech one i have behind the grill?? but, i have PIAA foglights that need to be moved form the OEM bumper to the NISMO bumper. hhhhmmmm.....my shop is goign to have to help me out and do some creative thinking!! haha.

I envy you in every sense of the word

I do not like the plenum though, but I respect the power they made and I am therefore forced to purchase one, if only on principle. :D

Congrats on all your parts!

sitting in LA waiting for me to drive down:

To secret CF diffuser 825.00

I have an exhaust on order-no idea what it will cost..waiting to hear from jap warehouse (R-SR) dual sound....

next week i'm popping fo the nismo headers (1000.00) and the cams (1400.00?)

then in august the big expense...he brakes..thats gonna be like 4500-5000 bucks.

and THEN..in like a year maybe a supercharger. I like the looks of the procharger...lets see how they work. that'll be 5 grand.

Im also going to do a bunch of 'custom' stuff over at my friends race shop...make some aluminum engine panels, clean up the engine compartment all of that. we are working on a full time 'cooler' system for the air intake ...if it works out I'll show the results. and some other stuff...

I might get a vented hood if my wife can be convinced it wont spoil the looks of the car. she like, doesnt care about all the mechanical mods but freaked when I tld her i was getting the diffuser. she thinks it looks goofy.
