PIC - Never mind the golf bags - A server fits!!

Used my Z to haul an email server from one of my employer's factories to another about 5 miles away. The only way it would fit was to pull up both the carpet and the pad. Those came in handy, when rolled up, as cushions for each end. This is a Dell PowerEdge 2900.

cool, looks like an expensive piece of equipment.

lbz 06-26-2008 09:29 PM

Probably in the $7K to $8K range when we first bought it. Less than half that now on ebay.

Take out the spare tire and all the associated foam supports and you can fit in a decent size cooler.

No lie.

(remember this for the beach and thank me later)

I love it!

When the Geek Squad ditches those ghey VW's and switches to Z's I might just apply...

Ha, I've got a PowerEdge 2900 I'm going to have to move soon as well. Now I know I can haul it in the back of the Z. :D

Reminds me of the day I bought a used server for my company, hauled it back to my office in the Z, and tried to get both the server and my Dr. Pepper from BK into the office without two trips.

Turns out the side of a server, while very flat, is also very slippery. Who knew? :icon9:

Both the Z and the Server suffered that day, I tell ya...

Smackin 06-27-2008 07:58 AM

^^ LOL i hope it all worked for the best

gr8scott_o 06-27-2008 08:02 AM

Server still works to this day! Despite the fact that I had to drain Dr. Pepper out of it.

Every now and again I will find one remenent sticky spot in the Z :icon20:

I am afraid to say, the Dr. Pepper was a total loss.

MustacheBandit 06-27-2008 08:23 AM

350z.... the practical car! :D

I transfer computers in my Z all the time for my IT job. We've got a bunch of the 2900's, I never thought it would fit in the Z. Who knew!?

lbz 06-27-2008 09:29 PM

LOL. You have to put it in at a real steep angle and it just barely clears the top of the back trim panel where the latch is. It does a little side to side sliding and dug into the bottom of the trim pieces at the bottom of the strut brace but with the carpet back in, I can't see those little nicks.

If I was doing it over again I would stuffed a folded over towel between each server side and the strut brace trim after it was in there. Keep from scratching and snug it up a bit.
