Are you talking about hard shifting from 1st to 2nd? I get a noise from the front passenger side wheel well. Its like a poping or cracking noise.

is it possible you're all just lifting off too early? this possibility seems to meet all the criteria mentioned here so far...

nah, im not liftin off the early at all. the clutch is always all the way down when i shift it. also only 1-2 does this. past 3 is fine, so it probably is the car.

I have this as well...i beleive its the syncros...same thing alot of people are experienceing with 3rd but less severe.

It a little bit of resistance in the 1-2 gate accompanied by a soft grind/cough sound. Not excessivly anoying, but I wish there was a smoother 1-2 shift in my car.

There really is no fix...all they would do is say live with it, or order you another trany, which will be the same...and who knows, possibly worse.

I havn't done anything since my issue isnt as bad as all the 3rd gear grind threads floating around.

Rumor has it though that Nissan redesigned the tranny...if that is true, oce it becomes official, I would seriously consider it.

I meant lifting off the throttle to soon... it would only happen in lower gears... since they're so tall...

So... the engine is compression braking and then you press the clutch and it sounds like the tranny clunks... Does that sound possible?

I just picked up my Z last Saturday, and I hear/feel a weird "click/clunk" going from 1 > 2 gear too. I have driven MT's before, but this is the first one I have owned... and I am worrying a little about this. I'll agree with everyone else here saying that it clunks, and I can feel it in the shifter as well.

I thought maybe I was doing something wrong...
