Trailer hitch for the Z?

Do you know if anybody producing trailer hitch for the Z?

I'm looking for something hidden under the bumper. To pull small trailer 200-300 pounds total.

I know they produce those for Miatas and M3s. But Z's underbody is quite different:rolleyes:

Hidden Hitch

I hada trailer hitch on my 1991 Firebird Formula. It was by a company called Hidden Hitch. http://www.hidden-hitch.com

The reciever was barely visible under the rear bumper when the draw bar was removed. The draw bar was only like 1 inch thick, but like 3 inches wide and solid. When the draw bar was out, there was even a black plastic cover to cover the receiver. Most people never spotted it until I pointed it out (or they saw me hauling my trailer). :D

They don't currently list one for the Z, but it might be worth calling them. Maybe they are working on one. Or they may have one that didn't make the web site yet. If nothing else, they may be waiting to judge demand so calling them might make it happen.

slightly off topic: I got a light weight trailer I might be willing to sell if you are in the area (I am in CT). Now that I have a durango I don't use the lightweight trailer. Anything it can hold will usually fit IN the durango. What I need now is a HEAVY trailer for my motorcycle.

if you'd happen to have the pictue.

I need it for autocross, and all it needs to carry is 4 wheels and a cargobox for tools and small stuff

I friend of mine tried to have one made but they just ended up messing up his bumper.

The last I heard someone had sent him one that doesn't affect the bumper but you have to lower the muffler to hook it up, he was thinking of installing it and removing it when he needed it.

I will ask him how it went.

I saw a G35 Coupe with a hitch and a bike rack mounted on it, so apparently, it can be done, assuming the Z underbody is the same.

I hate to justify this kind of dribble with a response, but I just can't resist...

I've seen $200,000 Porsches with trailer hitches, pal. It's a heck of a lot easier, cheaper, and faster to throw the Hoosiers on a utility trailer than it is to load a car into a trailer, get 4MPG with a pickup truck to pull the damn thing, and get harrassed for having a "trailer queen." Nobody seems to care much about the hitch when you're running the fastest lap times of the day.

Let me know if any of you have any luck finding a hitch...I need one for my Z too!:D

raceboy 09-09-2003 04:20 PM

I need one for my race tires too.

No wonder we drop bombs on Canadians.

Sorry, I don't have any pictures of the hitch and I don;t have that car anymore. Wish I could help you out.

All you could see from the back was a small rectangle, which was the end of a metal tube 1 inch tall and 3 inches wide. That was it. Super slick.

As for putting a trailer on the Z, it seems like a fine idea to me. Perfect for autocrossing. I mean, unless you have a truck AND a car carrier this is the next best thing.

For me, the trailer let me own just one sporty car and still work on my house. If I didn't have that trailer I would have had to buy something more practical.

I hate to suggest things that limit people's freedom.... But can we prevent canadian kids from joining the forum? Or have some penalty for Posting Under Influence?

No disrespect for mature canadians.

I'd like to have something like this

That was so out of line it's not even funny. Yeah buddy was a ********, but that was as uncalled for as a September 11th joke.
I was there in Kandahar on April 16 and I do not find that funny.

Get a sense of humor pal, it was a joke. In case you think I hate Canadians or something, take a close look at the 3 guys in my avatar; the three best musicians in the world IMHO.
