Did you go to jail after the hospital visit? No offense but you don't need a sportscar, buy a civic!

And don't buy a sportsbike, thats the leading fatality among Marines!

Your one of the Lucky one's to have learned from one of life's lessons. You are very lucky to be a alive.
It sounds like you have new found respect for life. I hope your story helps to save more lives.

Oh, I just have to say it. Dumb @$$.

Best wishes on a full recovery. Semper Fi

He did something foolish and seems to have taken ownership for it like a man. Glad you are here to tell your story. Be safe in Afghanistan and come back to tell us about that as well.

And you wonder why us "old timers" hate on street racing? Maybe because quite a few of us learned lessons the hard way and we would love to see you "young punks" (just kidding) not have to learn it the hard way. Many of us lost friends or family members to street racing...many of us got DAMN lucky and didn't lose someone or kill someone...but there were times we could have.

Do I get upset with street racing these days? Yes, because I realize there is a proper spot for it... Are there times that I'd love to rip someone out of a car or off a bike and beat some sense in them for their actions? You bet! Will I do it? No, but I won't hesitate to pick up the phone and dial those three magic numbers and hope the officer gets to meet them.

I admit, I street raced...should I? Absolutely not! Gone are the days of the local officers being willing to block off a section of in-construction highway (my dad and his friends had this luxury)... Today's traffic loads are so much greater than what we had even 20 years ago...and street racing is leading to more and more deaths.

I'm glad the OP is alive and is going to come out of this ok. I'm also very thankful that no one else got hurt.

I wonder how much ownership he really took when he filed the safety report on base. I'll bet money he will lose some rank if he did.

Anyone at Camp Lejeune, NC feel like forwarding this story to PMO? or Safety?

90 percent of accidents occur in the first year of ownership. You almost made it.

Maybe in some cases, but not at 140mph lol. Even if the flat tire stayed in-tact the imbalance of the rotating weight would still cause you to lose control + driving on a flat tire the back end would just want to walk everywhere but straight.

Pretty wild, wow.
