What have you done for your Z today?

Speaking of crushing a skull... For some reason last night while I lay sleeping, I sat up in bed then face dived off the side...
Luckily my face and side of my head broke my fall against the cast iron heater about 2 feet away...
The thud woke my wife up, and she found me in a mangled state on the floor.. I spent the next 2 hours with an ice pack on my head... Today was a long day.

Jeebus. Spending money like a fiend today. Just got an Autel Maxisys MS906BT car computer, because I'm sick of my outdated 15-year old single-core HP Pavilion Laptop with an outdated copy of Autoenginuity on it.
Amazon was having a flash sale on the Autel and dropped the price from $1300 to $950 and I had 2 minutes to make a decision. Came with a free inspection camera, so I figured why not? Now I have 2 inspection cameras and 3 scan tools (4 if you count the old laptop).
:P

Daz lacist. But I rike.
Before anyone gets on my case about saying that like that. I'm allowed to because it's self defec...er, deprecating.
I get that. My first strut/spring job was using one of those old "enclosed" compressors that had the huge metal lock plates on it top and bottom. So ancient, I can't even find a pic of one on goog images! But yeah, try using that with the struts hanging out of the fenderwells. Can you say pain-in-the-a$$"?? Oy.
Dayam, Zakman, I thought I was being a big spender when I paid $200+ for my Innova and then another $200 for my whatever-it's-called special scanner for Mercedes.
So, is the house next door to you for sale? I need to live next door and borrow a 10mm socket to take apart my Datsuns. Laff....

Yeah, seriously Mic, the older I get, the more I'm willing to spend to keep my skull from getting crushed in. When I was 19, I did my first strut job on a friend's 1974 Jensen Healey and used some FIAT spring compressors that were laughably dangerous. The current ones are good (OTC), but again, they're nowhere near as secure as the clamshell compressor.
Now that I'm spending my evenings working under the car, I'm even using an extra 4 jack stands. It'll be just my luck that we get our overdue big earthquake while I'm re-attaching the drive shaft.

And hey, I'm a part time caterer/chef.... BBQ? Small part of my repertoire. (A frequently used one of course but pales in comparison to my seafood and Asian pursuits.) Oh, and I don't offer beer (unless desired).... single malts and wines from the Willamette Valley. Heh heh....
Dungeness crab IS in season y'know.... Been told I do a mean Fire Crab (AKA Singapore Chili Crab)...
That sauce is deep red for a reason. It's made with 5 different chili sauces plus fresh chilis and a zillion garlic cloves. It ranges from mild mouth singe to "Oh holy sh... are you f'n kidding me?!< GASP! >" powered by Bhut Jolokia peppers.
I get more requests for the milder (only Habanero powered) sauce for some strange reason.
Now about that socket... Discovered I may also need a T6 Torx bit and a 19mm deep socket because mine has a lug nut stuck inside it and no amount of force will free it up.

My wife and I make a yearly trek there to stock up on Pinot Noir and Gewürztraminers (for me). We also do the areas around Zillah and Toppenish here in Washington for the local grog. I believe we're going to be doing some touring around Margaret River in Western Australia when we go out there next spring (for us, fall for them) for my wife's son's wedding. I'd have you cater it, looking at the photos, but you'd have to pay for everything
Damn, that food looks good. I think a trip to Salty's Restaurant is on my horizon after I wrap up the car project this weekend.

Scored a used Setrab Oil Cooler for steal! Missing the mounting bracket but I will make my own before the next oil change. Might replace the AN fittings while I'm at it.

Nice find! Would you please let me know how the install is for you and how you like the setup, etc? I'd imagine that you will really like it especially on those hot days, is it "thermostatic" (I think is the term) so it runs according to oil temps?

As for the wine regions, well, being here in Nor Cal, we have of course, Napa Valley, the scene of much devastation recently as you're aware. But we're going up this coming month to "support Napa businesses" with a group of friends. We've got an AirBnB (or VRBO, dunno) house set up for 16 of us and lots of towns and businesses to hit up!
If you hire me, I'd be glad to give you a discount. Just pay for our air fare. Laff....

No Problem, BigBlue, looks simple enough, I use the small bolt to secure the sandwich plate to the oil filter location on the upper oil pan and secure a bigger oil filter after that. It says a Fram 3950 fits it, but I don't run Fram. Ill cross reference with a K&N type.
Yessir, on the site it says it "Prevents Overcooling of Oil" which is good for the street, which my Z is for. Racing wise, I'm not sure if the over cooling prevention is favorable since oil temps run high on VQs especially the 370z/G37's. it will also add an extra quart of oil I think with the cooler and lines so that's also a plus.

Is that the first time you noticed that? Its said that for years...
Vo gave me that lovely title a few years ago... Their was a glitch in the forum and I took advantage of the technical difficulties by making myself a super moderator, uploading a avatar pic, and putting a heading on my profile...
Once they figured it out VO gave everyone a new catchy title for public shaming. But most of us just thought it was funny so he never took it down.
