Don't. This generation are big babies that demand to be spoonfed everything in life. Reading and research is soo hard for these kids with a 5 second attention span scrolling their newsfeed. Let em learn the hard way.

I'm guessing it's universal. Any make and model probably has a high percentage of the same BS.

I feel the same way too but then I sometimes think back to when I first got into cars, racing, and the industry itself and I didn't know squat either. Oh, the blunders I made....

And if not for the older, more experienced guys who took me under wing - because I listened and didn't challenge what they were saying - I learned a LOT from them!

But no, I didn't take everything on blind faith or at their words entirely either. More like I listened, I asked logical questions, talked to others and then came to my own conclusions based on hands-on and checking/double checking the info.

Oh, wait, right.... that IS reading and research. Heh heh.

While in rant mode... the other thing that bothers me is that people are too afraid to take a chance, to make a mistake or two, and are too proud to admit to them; instead blaming others.... "bad product", "lame mechanics", that sort of thing. People gotta own up - it's the only way they're gonna grow up.

The more you learn, the more you realize how little you knew. Only time can teach most people. There will always be the handful that never get it. They usually become managers and supervisors.

I think the main difference is most show some morsel of respect for people who are older than them, especially when they are learning, and gaining from being around them. That seems to have become more of the exception than the norm though.

I've definitely learned a lot about my car in a short amount of time on this forum. I'm a rank amateur for sure but researching and asking the right questions has helped me out. MicVelo and yourself have been more than helpful.
Of course I'm 38 and was raised to treat people with courtesy and respect. It goes a long way. Or at least it should.
I cut my teeth on imports in the Honda scene......... not so much over there. Lol.

I guess I did OK with my kids. Minimal social media presence and my son wanted me to explain "supporting mods" to one of his friends. Hahaha!

Of course, when it's pops who does all the work on their Zs, it's all taken care of beforehand....

Starting with advanced driver's school shortly after street driver licensing. You think I'd give my daughter my Nismo without it? 😳

today- replaced 1 month old tire i bought from tire rack (due to hitting chuck of concrete curbing laying in roadway and getting a hole in sidewall ---dang hole was so small it was hard to insert a ballpoint pen ink tube in it to show tire racks road warranty people that there was indeed a hole there and that the tire had to be replaced.)

and installed new hatch struts (nice easy job once i figured out that i knock the connector off the top attachment so i could fit the wrench around the nut-lol)
and installed, routed wires and hardwired new dash cam-- expect a review pictues video later this week after i've run it for a bit.)

oh- and spent a lot of time browsing/reading up on various dual exhausts and bushings. figure since i have to replace the rear diff bushing-and i am wanting a new exhaust- might as well get all my things lined up in my mind as to what and how to do it all.

but before that all gets installed- prob. will get this wilwood brake kit installed. gotta wait for a break in my mechanics now busy schedule. it really sucks not having a garage and a driveway on a hill.

Baby Boomers used to say the same thing about us Gen-X'ers. I'd always tell them to eat (wondering why there isn't a turd icon).

Millennials will probably be talking the same smack about the next batch of ankle-biters.

More on-topic, I left my Z in the garage today because it was pissed at me for playing the soundtrack to the movie "Fame" really loud during my ride home last night. That Irene Cara song was stuck in my head and I was out of Xanax. Messed up, right?

And I definitely remember my dad talking the same mess I'm talking now. Lol.
Yet our generation felt completely justified in the changes being given made. Even though some were definitely not good.

So far I sold the headlights, stock head unit, the side mirrors and the wheels. For a grand total of almost $300 recovered on my $1100 investment.

Sold my anniversary wheels also, lost $150 on them, not horrible.
