Finished my portable engine stand.

I decided to go with a straight forward bolt on design, and nothing adjustable for now.
Went with a base design that would allow easy upload and unload from an engine hoist.

Used a 2D CAD to create and program via strippit and press break machines, some simple engine brackets to bolt straight to the engine block. I will more than likely make them look "fancier", have some more radius's incorporated, and less plain square in the future. For now, just wanted to get a product on the ground.

Im happy with the results. Works as it should. Will really help when I need to transport the engine, and will also let me bolt the trans housing on the motor while it's on the stand for any various mock ups, unlike the usual harbor freight style engine stands.

Not today, but in recent weeks:

Replaced crappy front fender well liners.

Installed Zspeed front Splash shield since the original was gone..

Replaced stock suspension arm that was overheated by someone in past ownership bending it to align.

Clutch pedal mechanism RJM.

Welded small holes in cats.

I didn't - my long time garage did all.

Thats pretty awesome, only thing I would have done different would be added additional bracing because I wouldn't be that confident in my welds.

Your welds are obviously holding up just fine, and your welding abilities are probably superior to my own.

Installed 6 new gleaming NGK IX Iridium spark plugs.

My car had started dropping cylinder 2, throwing a code P0302, and if you restarted the engine, it'd go back to running on all 6...sometimes for a day or two; sometimes for a minute or two. New plugs totally fixed this (old plugs looked original so that's 69k and the plug in cylinder 2 was eroded).
Overall car is driving great and new plugs make it purr at idle now.

Figured it out, basically you just need a pick tool and push in a little tab and stab the connector upwards.

Now just gotta talk myself into putting these in the oven...

Well this did not go good.....

The black went on really good, but then I changed guns for the clear coat and it sent chunks of clear into the car...

I tried to clean it off and it completely messed up the paint underneath... I ended up having to sand everything, then bits of sandpaper molded their way into the half dried paint...

So then I had to make a choice of temp make it black and deal with the ugly, or just regroup and try again another day... You can see what I decided to do...

Good from far and far from good...

The lip came out good minus the Orange peal, and a drip or two...

O well guess its not winning any car shows this week.

Juss Damm Mikey, props for the initiative!
In other news-
I got my Mutekei Tuner lugs powder-coated to match the Akebonos.

ChargeSpeed cf skirts and RR 1/4s going on as soon as I get off my fat ****. Great car @ 106K. (Don't mind the wheel-gap, uneven pavement ; )

Oh man, these pieces are so overkill it doesn't need it. I was going to use a crazy thick angle for the supports, but after seeing how overkill just opted for 7 gauge support pieces.

The uprights are 2x2 and 3/8 thick. I double passed on the welds.

My harbor freight engine stand looks like child's play compared to this thing.

Its a vinyl wrap, i think evo-r sells the real carbon fiber ones, but for 100$+ the vinyl was better, bought it at pepboys for 15$ and wrapped it in 10 mins tops, its really easy to do

How did you attach the fabric? I have come across some interior plastic in going to mess with one of these days.

Well, not today... but I returned today from taking a trip to the Tennessee/N.Carolina border in the Smoky Mountains with the missus and the Z to watch the eclipse from the path of totality. I plan on making a thread for those of you that are interested and not nauseated by all of this eclipse talk by now. I'm guessing that the 'Media Share' subforum is the appropriate place for this.

We watched the eclipse from Deals Gap and the famous Tail of the Dragon on Hwy 129 which, as I'm sure most of you know, has 318 curves in 11 miles and a memorable part of Zdayz.

A couple pics from a most enjoyable journey and unforgettable experience. I wouldn't have taken the trip in anything else.
