Evening fellas,

Today my OEM battery gave out, swapped in a new one. My lord, those batteries weigh like bricks. But never mind that, there is something that has been bothering me; I've looked through the forums and don't seem to see anything as to why it's occurring. Why do the 350Z door handle bubble up? I'm going to replace them, but I don't want it to happen again so I want to know how to combat that.

Here's a photo of the bubbling. I didn't want to open a topic for it, since I'm looking for double-confirmation to my guess that it's coming from car washes and sun heat. While I don't do washes under the sun, but sometime the sun gets in under my shed.

And here's something you can set your wallpaper to if you like, taken out in Palm Springs in CA. I do have more pictures, if you want, I can upload a few more in the media section where I recall there being a 350Z Photography topic. Although, I did not take these pictures. @jrsang_ from Instagram did. So credit to him.

Dang I never had one bubble up like that, I thought they had a self destruction feature that had them brake before that happened.

@ Zwei-
My 06 driver side did that. I replaced it about 2 yrs ago, so far no problems. You could rewrap it but for $35 to me wasn't worth it.

Hey, Zwei. Probably just an imperfection between the handle itself and the aluminum finish that allow moisture and other contaminants to get between.. BTW, your Z is really coming along nice.

Thanks for the responses guys. I suppose it's an aging issue then from what it sounds like. I'm assuming my handles are from factory so they lasted quite a long time then unless they been swapped out under the original owner. Looked at carbon fiber covers and that actually costs more than the handles themselves on what I found on eBay for $97 for a clean pair.

@Atrey'z 350 - Thanks, I like where I've gone with it ever since I bought it stock over a year ago. My next plans are a few other things along with yellow Akebono BBK upgrade. The finished product will be - Amuse Superleggera with Espirt/APR/Garge Mak GT wing with a cool wrapped itasha race-car livery. Just don't know if I can afford the genuine Amuse full kit, or just go rep. and funnel money into the engine. Wished I bought the full kit from TexRex from 2016.

EDIT:
Added the Zspeed undertray, best one for your Z. Glad I've finally replaced the OEM ones... it's been zip-tied for its life and it still sags. Not anymore! Have to thank my lady for the gift however. Also, I recently made a switch from Hankooks Ventus V12 evo2 tires to Federals RS-RR, I'm very satisfied with the performance and price. Although I must inform you that the Federals do indeed run larger than listed. (Spec: F/245/40/18 - R/265/40/18) I think... I might be able to push it one more notch... 255/275 but I feel I will definitely be rubbing in the front. Sold my spacers, oh well and raising the Z is not an option.

Last thing, the Federals are loud tires, I am getting used to it, but I'm shocked that they can be loud. Hankooks were so quiet. Federals are like truck tires loud. Still the threads are sexy designs. Fire it reminds me of, surely. The Z is so dirty, but it's going to rain very soon... please don't judge me.

No problem. It sounds like you have a solid plan in place. I'm curious to see the end result, and judging by what I've seen, It'll probably be good.. I'm also running Federals. The RS-595's in 255/40/18 & 275/40/18. No noise, good grip, no complaints.. An aluminum under shroud is also on my list, but a little more down the road. Right now I'm acquiring parts for the 5AT to 6MT swap I plan to do this spring.

Yeah, unfortunately. Thought it would make more sense with my long daily commutes, but I was wrong. It makes absolutely NO sense... But here's what I need still:

- OEM Clutch Slave Cylinder

- JWT Flywheel/Clutch Combo Kit

- CD00A 6MT Transmission

- OEM 6MT Driveshaft

- OEM Pressure Plate Bolts & Washers

- OEM Flywheel Bolts

- Chromoly Updated Clutch Pivot Ball w/Iron Fork

- Rear Main Seal/Retainer

- OEM Driveshaft Bolts

- 6MT Shifter Bezel

- OEM Shift ****

- OEM 6MT Shifter

Do you need to swap computers or just reprogram yours if you swap the transmission?

For now I'm just going to brute force the existing ECU and modify the engine harness. But I eventually plan on getting a '05 ECU and harness.. Why? Do you have something I might be interested in..?

I have the 04 G35 computers, along with the clutch pedal, shifter, master cylinder and I have an extra driveshaft. Didn't really plan on selling any of it but if you have a hard time finding it feel free to pm me.
