What is this?
What is this??? I'm having some image posting issues so I only have this smaller file to post, but take a look see and tell me what you think.
Take a look at the object being reflected atop the front fender well. Note that I am very much in the wilderness, with no power poles, lights or anything manmade in the area. I have dismissed anything being reflected from the car itself because I have several other shots from the same position and NOTHING reflected in the paint! What could this possibly be?
Regards, Jim

Another crop of "What is this?"
This is a crop and easier to view. I am really serious as it has now given me the "*******" just a bit as to what this could possibly have been in view of the fact that following shots have nothing there....

It must be UFOs because I was just about to post that when the thread mysteriously disappeared. Really. I posted and got an error message saying the link was invalid. Spooky.
But I agree with Ares. It looks like the mirror to me.
Spooky stuff aside, you take the greatest pictures, Jim! (Of course, that Arizona sun helps the LS a lot.) I hope you'll stop by if you ever get back to the east coast.

Reflection
Oh, I know I can edit it out, but I am more curious/concerned as to what it might have been. There was no movement in the after shots as these were all tripod mounted and shot within 20-30 seconds of each other and the sun would not have moved any appreciable amount in that time. I have shot this particular car a great deal and in many locales, but never with something like this appearing in the photo. Regards, Jim

UFO's ?
Naw, at least I hope not! It is a very remote kind of setting and I am glad I didn't see this thing through the view finder and begin thinking.....
Commasense, Thank you for your kind compliment on my photographs. I had planned on coming back to Nashua for the Z meet, but got pretty sick and taking longer to get my strength back then I had planned on, so no trip this year. Besides, with Marilyn @ 42,000 miles and counting, she needs a break! Thanks for the invite. Regards, Jim

So Jim, do you add any kind of filter to all of the photos you post? They all seem so bright and sharp, that it looks almost fake?
Just curious, I showed my friend some of your pictures, and he immediatly asked what kind of filter your adding to it.

Well, as long as you didn't get gang probed by the Aliens, you should be fine. Does it hurt to sit down?
Honestly, I have no idea other than the obvious - Bird, Plane, Superman?
Hmmmm....

Filter
Yes, due to the intense sunlight that we enjoy here in Arizona, I use a polarizing filter for just about all of my exposures. This accomplishes a number of things. It brings the exposure parameters back down to where they are managable again, especially when shooting digital which is very much like slide film in its response to light. Secondly, we have a lot of dust in the air out here and this filter helps cut through the dust/haze that our naked eye, for the most part, adjusts for and we don't see this dust/haze. This is why your friend sez the photos almost look fake to him. It is because the polarizer allows the colors, especially a strongly lit Le Mans Sunset to just radiate. Thirdly, when used properly, they make a blue sky incredibly saturated and white clouds just jump out from the sky. This shot shows the over emphasis of the polarizing filter when I under expose to emphasize the elements of the car and the sky. Regards, Jim

"Crazy posts?"
Now what's so crazy about thinking I caught a pic of a flying saucer in the fender of Marilyn? After all, when we do shoots like this she and I talk a great deal between takes and yesterday she was strangely quiet....
Hmmmm, maybe I did get "probed" out there in the mountains yesterday by some lady intergalactic pilot? Regards, Jim

some unknown moderator we never heard of is going to suddenly and unexplainably close this thread. and everyone who participated in this thread is going to gradually disappear from the forum.
