nissan's cvtcs

does anybody know at what rpm range does the CVTCS kicks in?

ZPower Oct 17, 2003 02:52 PM

It says "continuos", so all RPM's?

Good question.

not really.

The Z has continuously variable valve timing.

The Murano has a continuously variable transmission. (and possibly valve timing to)

The tranmission is fairly unique and we will probably be seeing more of them in the future. But right now they are too heavy and produce too much power loss for a Z.

CVTs are not that unique. The Audi A4, and one of the Japanese hybrids have them, and they're pretty common in more urbanized areas such as Europe and Japan, where they need the wear-and-tear savings that the CVT produces. The thing about the Nissan Xtronic CVT (which is on the Murano) is that it's beter than what Audi and the hybrid have.
