Is stock muffler covered by lifetime warranty?
my 2005 ppw enthusiast has a bad rattle coming from inside the muffler at cold starts that is progressively getting worse. i suppose the insides of the muffler are coming apart.
the car has 28k miles should this be covered by nissan? thanks |
You really aren't giving much information here... and the only definite answer you will get will be found in the looking through your warranty paperwork and/or calling the dealership. If your car is still covered under a bumper to bumper warranty, then the muffler probably will be covered... if you only have a drivetrain warranty remaining, then it probably won't be covered.

Nothing is covered under lifetime warranty except for the interfooler. |
Probably not. Here's what the warranty manual says...
WHAT IS COVERED AND FOR HOW LONG Nissan* warrants to correct defects in materials or workmanship, or for failure due to normal wear and tear, of all replacement Genuine Nissan Original Equipment muffler assemblies, Genuine Nissan vehicle suspension system shock absorbers and strut assemblies installed on Nissan vehicles only, except as described under the caption below, Later in the manual this setcion can be found... WHAT IS NOT COVERED This warranty does not cover: 1 . Genuine Nissan Key Value® Muffler Assemblies. 2 . Shock absorbers and strut assemblies installed before July 1, 1999. Muffler assemblies installed before October 1, 1999. All of this is described in a special section in the back of the manual, outside the normal 3yr/36K mile section that covers the full car. |
No certain. What does your warranty say?

just buy a used nismo cat back and call it a day.

I had a similar problem awhile back. I had some janky high flow cats and the catalyst broke up and I guess was pushed back into my muffler. I got test pipes, a Nismo S-Tune exhaust, and called it a day.
