If window won't raise after closing door
Something discovered recently , only took me a year to stumble on it . If you go to close your doors and the window doesn't raise that extra 1/2 inch after closing , check the kid proof safety switch on your driver's door . If you have hit it by accident , the windows lock and will not raise up and reseal . Just a little tip that may save you some stress and/or a trip to the dealer .

What "safety switch" are you talking about? I never noticed that... Got a pic?

Ethan , sorry , don't have a picture but it is the switch right next to the door lock switch on the driver's door. It's only on the driver's door not the passenger door .If you look closely , there is a picture of a window with an X through it on the switch . Mine is a 2003 model . Hope that helps !

he's talking about the window lock button, i think.

Hmm, I understood it to be some malfunction in the car's computer program. My car had this and all that was needed was the dealer reprograming the window's travel distance. Whatever it was it's pretty simple.

SilvahZ,
Ya , that too but the kid proof window locking switch also does it . Hey , maybe it's not intended to be a " kid proof safety switch " but some sort of " security switch " , protection wise from raising or lowering the windows ! Who knows ! |
Hmmm
Why would there be a kids proof door on the drivers side of the car??? why not the passenger side?? That would make more sense to me anyway....unless that switch does it for both sides??? weird... never noticed it...

not what you guys are thinking, its just the window lock.
the child lock makes doors so they only open from the outside, often found on the back doors of sedans. this is not the same thing. dont know how it is involved in the sealing, just clarifying what it is. |
Ares ,
That's correct ! For those who aren't sure what we are talking about , hit the button with the window Xed out . It does do both windows so it probably is for the purpose of not allowing a passenger to open and close his/her window , as in a child .But it will also keep the windows from rising after the door closes and if you are not aware , could send you down to your dealer . what i have done is open my doors, unhook the battery, and then hook it back up. close the doors and it seems to reset the mechanism that seals the doors that last half inch. dont know if im right or not, but its worked for me!

Cwerdna ,
that's probably in need of a reprogramming if it's not that window switch . |
Was washing my car today and decided to check this.
I have an 03 Touring model (probably makes no difference, but before anyone asks), and it does not matter if that button is depressed or not, my windows go down and up when opening/closing the door. I checked it thrice. |
