so I was on my way home and this guy decides to take a left across all lanes in his suburban and apparently my car was "too small" and he didnt see it so he slammed right into the side of me:( I was not hurt physically, but mentally the pain will never go away....

Do you think they will total it?

good thing you weren't hurt and im definitely no expert but it the car will run and you can change the door and rear fender (i think the wheels crooked as well from the angle of the pictures) there should be no reason them total it

Good luck, hopefully the car will be restored

PV350Z 08-06-2010 09:20 PM

NOT TOO BE BLUNT....if they total it ...partout dibs too me...

really? you don't see a myriad of other parts that might need some attention?

this will be an expensive fix, doubt it will be totaled territory, but it's not ruled out. good luck.

Door and a reskin of the rear fender , probably $7k total

davidv 08-06-2010 11:29 PM

The other vehicle cut the door like a can opener. Glad you are unharmed.

DemitriHKS 08-07-2010 09:54 AM

I think your car will be okay. You got luck to be hit there, no passenger it looks like so no airbags went off maybe? If you didn't get the frame nicked you'll be okay.

Things that will total this car
-Frame damage
-Airbags

Other than that you're good, good luck man hopefully it comes back better than new.

Z Fo Sho 08-07-2010 10:54 AM

thanks for the responses. Also, some damages not pictured are a cracked headlight and a wrinkle in the front bumper. also the broken glass scraped off a lot of the paint on the hood. The only thing I'm worried about if it is not a total loss is if they will fix it to how it was before. I put so much work into it making it clean and perfect, just my luck:(

BoomerZ33 08-07-2010 11:22 AM

bummer dude, least your ok.

dirty z 08-07-2010 11:27 AM

Hey man Same thing just happened to me and it was only 6200 dollars to fix and they did not total it! Sorry to hear that it happened.

Zazz93 08-07-2010 12:11 PM

Sorry to hear bro, Looks like about $6500-7500 in damage which should be under the reasonable limit to total-out, but you just don't know. They have so much to consider, but note anywhere from 51% of vehicle value and up is totaling territory.

HyperKnight 08-07-2010 12:49 PM

Jeez man, what kind of vehicle was he in? Looks like you hit Edward Scissorhands and he tried to hang on for dear life.

Z Fo Sho 08-07-2010 04:27 PM

He was driving a suburban, so my car didnt really stand a chance haha. I walked away from the accident with minor injuries, but I just got X-rayed today for my ribs and arm so we will see for any fractures. It just sucks so much.

neight 08-07-2010 05:01 PM

ouchh . pain .

NewJoyZ 08-07-2010 05:08 PM

Yikes. Glad your ok. I always love seeing Redline Z's, but not like this.

Orange County 08-07-2010 06:19 PM

y don't people want it to be totaled? i would hate to have a accident record when i am selling the car.

zaperroni 08-07-2010 06:33 PM

Wow that sucks. Glad to see you are okay.

PrimeX 08-07-2010 07:44 PM

OP, that looks like the SECOND wreck my '08 took, neither my fault. I took my car to a known area car makeover place and they made it look brand new again.

AT the cost of $7000.00.

Unfortunately I did get hurt though. Lost all feeling in my left arm from elbow to ring/pinkie fingers and continuous back/neck pain. I hired a lawyer as they guy had crappy insurance. This happened in March of last year and I'm STILL waiting to hear about the settlement.

Best of luck to you.

ZS14RR 08-07-2010 08:11 PM

thats a total lost

Z Fo Sho 08-10-2010 04:25 PM

They ended up deciding the car was a total loss. I got $14500 for it tho!!! which is not bad at all for a 2004 with 55k miles.

Now I'm on the hunt for a different Z:icon21:
