Z Back from the Body Shop. It's no good!
Well, I just picked up the Z from the body shop. They replaced the door, gave me a new wheel, refinished the bumper and "repaired" the rear left quarter panel. The only problem it that it doesn't look right. It looks like a decent job, but when you compare it to the right quarter panel, the lines are off. I'm taking it back to them on Monday and they said they'll fix it, but this is just frustrating. The body shop guy could see what I was talking about too. I'll try to take some pics this weekend. Can't they just replace the whole thing instead of pulling out the metal? Any suggestions or advice would be nice! Thanks.

God I hate dealing with body shops.

You can request to have the door and quarter panel replaced, this just takes longer and most body shops don't want to bother w/ this because of time. (normally they have to bolt the panel on and then weld it to the body. If you would rather they do it this way ask them to.

ARGH!!!! I just looked over the car. They did an awful job. They scratched the hell out of my hood, didn't replace the scratched door handle. They screwed up the brake light. It's not sealed now and condensation is blocking the entire light. This is crap. They're gonna hear it from me when I bring it back.

OK, I'm done venting. Sorry about the bitching. Body shops suck. Later.

The Nissan Dealership would just send the car out to a contracted body shop.
Find someone with a good Mechanic and ask that mechanic who is a good body shop. Mechanics always know the best guys in town. You want someone who does custom jobs or show cars. |

looks good to me? Maybe you should take the exact same shot on both sides of the car so we can see the differences.?.

Yeah its hard to tell from those pics

even tho others dont see it, I can totally see what u mean by the rounded wheel well. The good side has a much more defined crease right the wheel well.

Justin, keep us posted. I'd like to hear what they do to fix the lousy job. That wheel well requires some good body work. The alternative is to cut the quarter panel off right by the door and weld a new one on. There was a great post of this repair with pictures and everything, but I can't find it right now.

That quarter panel replacement looks like a nasty job. Hopefully they won't have to resort to that. I brought the Z in this morning and they said they would take care of everything. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed).
Boosted - That's exactly what I was talking about. There's a hard line that circles the wheel well that the body shop just ignored. It's really hard to tell from the pics. Sorry bout that. Hopefully they'll fix it right this time. Justin |
