Lol you are right but I have lived in CA for 3 decades so, it is time to move on. Plus we will have way more money for trips, house projects and more savings for retirement. I actually made my wife move from her native Bay Area to Sacramento, then later to SoCal, so she has given up a lot.

Note on mounting position of the V1, you can stick it very close to the top of the glass on the right of the mirror, and it can't be seen from outside very well, or at all. Cops don't know you have it.

No, but you then have to deal with Contempt of Cop, which can just as bad anyway. IMO, are better off hiding it. We live in a pseudo-police state now, where even recording police performing their duty is an imaginary violation of wiretapping. Using a device that counteracts the tools of the police is going to trigger that same volition against you.

I jumped on an on-ramp and pushed it to 130MPH on a wide open free way at 6:00AM on my way to huntington beach. I slowed to 65MPH after a few seconds thinking I got away with it, but a CHP unit came flying out of nowhere and started tailing me. I switched lanes hoping he'd pass by, but he followed and hit his lights. When I pulled over, he yelled at me asking where I was headed and whether I owned the car. He said verbatim "slow it down out there" and let me go. Whew

My dad was a cop for 20+ years so every time I have had to show stuff I kept in the glove box I learned it is always best to tell the officer before you do anything what you are doing. Recently I just gave up and put the frequently required stuff in one of the little storage bins (I live on a military base and they love to pick me out for the random vehicle check which requires all that stuff, you think highway cops are jumpy, some of these 18yr old kids they give M4s to are nuts. Odd off topic really long parentheses comment, for some unknown reason here at home station in the US they outfit our security forces with M203 attachments... wtf do they plan on using that for?) But I did get pulled over once with my stuff in that glove box and all I did was tell the officer I had to have my passenger exit and I got out too to go get the papers for him. He was cool with it because I kept him in the loop. Most cops are on edge and tend to calm down with you a bit if you dont just start doing things randomly that seem unusual. Long way of answering that I suppose. Enjoy.

on the radar detector subject, anyone recommend a good place to pick one up? Any of the guys on the forum sell them?
Edit: I went to escorts website and saw they had this super bad *** radar/laser kit that is full on installed in the car with antennas and laser shifters and what not. Found it for sale on Amazon by escort at 1300ish for parts. Seems like some overkill but at the same time I was curious if anyone had experience with it. Its a 9500ci. Also what is a laser shifter? I know from talking with some cops that once a laser is locked on you, you a basically ****ed and there is no way to pick it up until it is fired, do the shifters somehow make it take longer so you can get a real warning/reaction time? I do suppose not driving like a jackass would prevent from needing to find out too though.

Probably not. The way it was explained to me was, the M4 always has a M203 on it because its easier to just leave it on. Some of the patrol cops do carry rounds with them but mostly just smoke rounds. Do they make a flash bang style round for those things? If so they probably carry one of those around too. Our swat team actually uses like an MP5 kinda thing. Not sure what it is probably is the MP5 but it looks way cooler. None of this grenade launching BS. I think they do it to make the cops feel special or cool or something. If its someone I know at the gate with one I usually comment on their noobtoob. I have decided if I ever get qualified on one, my new gamer tag will be InoobtoobIRL.

I've had two different Z's. My '05 PPW I only received on ticket in 3 years. In my '08 with mods I've now received 5, 3 just this year. 70 in a 60, 40 in a 30 and 48 in and 40. Houston cops are out in force since the city is in debt. It's ****ing ridiculous. Freaking hate them. I cruise control it everywhere now and can't have fun!

Geez! That is ridiculous! Unless it is the end of the month, the cops here would not even look your way at those speeds!
