18's or 19's, Changing the wheel/tire combo for maximum handling?
Wheels are always cool for upgrading the appearance of the car, but are there any proven wheel/tire upgrade combo's that are actually track proven? The Track Z only comes with size 235 rear tire's right? Was there a reason Nissan didn't want to use larger tires?
If there's a website that addresses this or thread, let me know. FYI, I used the search button. |
Track has 8" wheels up front and 8.5" wheels in the back - 225/45/18 front, 245/45/18 rear.

a wider amount of tread will always help handling. of course keeping it properly planted to the ground with good suspension is very important as well.
also important is unsprung weight; for both accel and handling. a lighter rim and tire is more able to roll over the grounds imperfections, rather than flattening the sidewall and then bouncing up. opposite side to that; if you get a wide rim; youll find yourself with more traction in the foward direction than the car knows what to do with. and tread is a huge source of drag. gotta find the right size that isnt causing more drag than its worth. on a stock Z; I dont see a need for anything more than 275-295; even those may be overkill. but beyond that is just way more traction than 287hp needs. |
