that'll teach 'em

I'm not entirely sure if this is a race story or not so mods forgive me and feel free to move it if I posted in the wrong area.

anyhow....

this happened about a week ago.

I was headed down to old town Tempe to stop at the Jack in the Box for a couple tacos. A few minutes pass and I see my radar detector going nuts... I am doing only about 7 over but I slow down anyway. A few seconds later I see two Mesa motorcycle cops sitting on the north side of the road... each one firing radar at traffic in both directions. (which BTW is grounds to have the ticket dismssed if you know how to bring that up in court).

So I pass and keep on going in my quest for a pair of tacos.

On the way back I tell myself to watch my speed near the same area. As I get closer I come up to a red light about 600yds west of the cops. They cannot be seen just yet from my point of view but I am sure they are still there.

Just then a beat up primer gray 70's era monte carlo with 4 hispanics (who appeared to fit the gang banger stereotype rather well) pulls up next to me with some rap BS music pouring from the open windows. The music turns down and I hear the driver say "hey!" I look and say "whats up?".... he says (in a strong "vato" accent) "I'll f'ing kick your a$$ in a race!"

I'm thinking.... hmmm.... normally I would just laugh at that and say "sure thang buddy", but my evil inner self is begging for some action. I tell the guy "you actually think so?..... fine.... your done dude". His accomplices in the rear seat are now laughing at me.

Keep in mind now that I know there are two cops ahead blasting radar to anyone who may be slightly speeding. The light turns green and I start off with a mellow launch just to see if the guy was actually serious.... he was cause his piece of **** ride is making some rather loud noise and a bit of smoke appeared to be coming from the a$$ end.

"ok... he took the bait" I'm thinking.... I keep my acceleration down to a modest level to actually let this guy think he has a chance.... we get up to about 50 or 55 and I nail the brakes hard. By this time I can just start to see the front wheels of the motor cops. Jose and his gang scoot past me still accelerating... I can see the smirks on thier faces.

About 4 seconds later I can now fully see the cops. I am doing 45 (the limit) and El Jesus is several car lengths ahead and still going strong. I see the cop holding his radar unit... soon after he quickly holsters his radar weapon, pulls out and within 5 seconds is right on the a$$ end of La Manuel, his emergency lights fully activated.

As I pass I make sure not to look over.... I just smile inside knowing that I caused Ortega's pandilla a nice little inconvenience and couple points on his license.

I just hope I don't run into them anytime soon....

LoL!

That IS an awesome story. But yeah, definitely keep an eye out now, you never know when you might run into them again, or even worse some of their friends and/or gang members. (That is assuming they are the type to be in a gang, according to your description)

Great job though, you know they were pissed as hell!

Hey you were racing but got lucky and saw the cops first! You tried to signal to them but they were pulling on you too hard!;)

Funny story, but what made you want them to get tickets?

N74DV Dec 29, 2003 03:40 PM

it was the pure attitude in the way he said "I'll f'ing kick your a$$ in a race" that got me going.

stereotype?? NO. they actually were thug gang bang punks

alex100 Dec 29, 2003 07:26 PM

It probably would have been too PC to decline the race invitation, then again we wouldn't have the opportunity to LOL and stereotype. I guess its true, having a Z really doesn't add to our intellect.

N74DV tells the truth. I live in Tempe too, the vato's down here are hardcore man. Don't ever park your sh-t at the Mills Mall.

peptidbond Dec 30, 2003 06:59 AM

LOL!

Similar happened to me once. We were already rolling on the highway and a "riced" out Didge Avenger who I saw earlier rolled on me. Earlier we were just revving at each other. This time he came flying up on me out of nowhere. I nailed the gas so he would think I was following. He floored it and took off (I chose not to follow). Thankfully, I slowed a little. Seconds later there was a cop on the side of the road. The guy passed him doing at least 95. When we rolled by the Avenger before he pulled over, my G/F saw him slamming his wheel and screaming "f*ck, f*ck, f*ck!". Needless to say, he deserved it. Why? Well, trying to race a on a street, trying to race a vastly superior car, and for de3stroying a perfectly fine sedan with a wing, blue marker lights, and all the rest of that APC crap (yes, he had the sticker too).
