What's the insurance rating on a Z?

im not really asking what yall are paying a mth or every 6 mths on your car....cause that might scare me. but i may be looking into getting one around this summer and im curious as to what it ranks?? for example, i believe the RX8 is rated at 17 or something...which is really good. i believe a Nissan salesman told me the Z is a 19...which still isnt that bad. i just want to confirm this. thanks....and w00t for my first post!

i believe it's either 17 or 20. these are the two numbers that stick out in my head when i recall asking my ins co about it when i was lookng to buy my z. that's with farmer's ins.

ok cool, im w/ USAA so the rates w/ them are hard to beat. but i do have my fair share of speeding ticets too. hopefully they wont rape me too bad when i inquire them about rates.

ViZion Dec 30, 2003 06:18 PM

yeah, i have a crap load of tickets too. but i still have decent rates. actually i have stellar rates considering...

and for sure it's 17. my accord was 14 (b/c of the theft) and the z was only 3 points more. both the ins lady and i were suprised about that.

if it's any help, my 03 z track is $7 more per month than my 03 accord ex (4cyl) was.

MyZ4U2C Dec 30, 2003 06:52 PM

All i know is that i pay $80.00 a month with State Farm.

I pay less for the Z than I did for my 01 Celica GTS with the same coverage. Go figure!

Yep... my '03 Z runs only $60 more per year than my '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee did for the same coverage.

My total insurance bill comes to right at $750 per year on the Z!:icon04:

The Z is rated as a safe car...especially with the side and curtain air bags. This helps us have a lower insurance rate compared to many cars. Especially if you are used to owning an older car that lacked these features.

hey mcduck and MyZ....i see yall are from NC also. i'm goin to school in concord right now, right next to Charlotte. but i'm from Greenville....and i also party in Raliegh frequently. mcduck, you ever go out to circuity city or the k mart parking lots where everyone hangs out?? there was a supercharged Z out there a couple weeks ago....sounded sick!

In Charlotte? If you mean over by UNCC, I know where it is, but I haven't been out there for any meets. If there's a SC-ed Z in Charlotte, I'd like to take a peek at it.

usually we're at the Circuit City off of hwy 52 and 74 (Independence). it's a new shopping center, i think its called sycamore commons. thats where i usually see the supercharged Z. lately people have been goin to the abandoned K Mart parking lot off of Independence near 485. Underground Racing is working on another 350 putting a supercharger on that one.

I have USAA and pay $ 60 a month for my Z. No tickets/accidents and multi vehicle discount.

My G/F is a licensed ins agent. The Z is a symbol 17, as per Farm Family specs, each company rates vehicles differently.
In perspective, my 03 Accord EX V-6 Coupe is also a symbol 17.

tach41 Jan 5, 2004 06:21 PM

I pay $10 more a month with the same coverage as my old car.
It was a '03 Spec V. The Z was about twice the cost new as the Spec V, go figure?
