I'm a girl and always wanted a fast car when I was in my teens. My first car was a 1995 Celica and it was enough car for a teenage girl. I'm not saying you have to buy her an older car, but maybe a sporty looking car with less oomph. Also, as a word of advice, teach her how to drive a manual, she'll appreciate it when she's ready for a 350Z.

Not an ideal car for a learner driver, however maybe something similar to the 'valet mode' in Uprev could be used to turn the wick down a bit. Limit the engine to 4000rpm and speed to 70mph or something.

Didn't really think this one through?
Guess I need to drive a few just to see what all the fuss is about
and i agree 100% that a higher hp car isn't the best choice for young and inexperienced drivers,(she won't be driving my Vette by herself until she's 30 LOL) I also know that teens will push the limits of ANY vehicle and try to show off (girls less likely than boys) but then again, don't we all do that when we get a new toy? But I am going to test drive one myself just to see how they handle.
Oh, here's a little background on WHY I would even consider such a car: a few years ago, I told her if she kept her grades up, I would get her the car of her choosing (within budget) she is a straight A student, involved in alot of school activities and generally a good kid. So I feel I need to keep my end of the deal. Wished my parents made me a deal like that!

Either way, if I were you, I'd change your "deal" to only include Front wheel drive cars or at least low power RWD cars with Traction control for the 1st car. And no top heavy SUV's because she will roll it. If you ignore our advice and you do end up with a 350z, have fun with those insurance payments.

I would say no tho mom, I dont believe 287 hp + RWD + teenage girl is a safe move.
If you're looking to teach your daughter how to drive a sports car consider the new scion frs/subaru brz. RWD and decent power. Safe as far as i've heard.
I would search for more of a sporty 4 door vehicle for your daughter. Maybe the Maxima?

... Before you even think about it I want you to take a test drive in a Z while it is raining. Just raining. Not too hard but not a sprinkle either. Then decide if you think your daughter is experienced enough to control a car like that. I'd question your parenting if you went on with the deal after that.
