Default Keep or sell

I'm looking for perspectives: those who sold their 350z, are considering selling it, or those who wanna chime in :-)

Well it's that time. I've had my Z since 2006 with 20,000 miles. It's an 04. It's my first sports car (was 23 when I bought it). It took me through 2 yrs of grad school and long commutes. I remember a year or so before I bought my Z, I was waiting for the free bus ride to UC Davis, and there was a z with a sweat *** exhaust exhilarating. I was hooked and it became my obsession.

Fast forward to February 2013. It has 126,000 miles. One set of clutch. Motor is good as new. It has never let me down!!! never left me calling for the tow truck. Rattles here and there. Needs new tires and an alignment. However, I hardly drive it. I've driven it once in two months. I've sold my coilovers. I'm about to sell my lovely NISMO exhaust. I feel that once I sell the NISMO then it's a point of no return (lol I know I'm being hyperbolic) since I remember loving the exhaust so much.

My current ride is my 2011 gti. Love how it gets good mileage, good stereo, fast and nimble. It's not a two seater but its sporty and fun.

The dilemma is I might regret selling the Z! Not really looking to mod the Z (ie turbo) because I'd rather save the money for traveling overseas... But maybe if I get new tires I'll start liking it again since the road noise will lessen and it will be a more pleasant ride. Frankly it it was a second car that was a convertible like an s2000, it would make the decision harder but alas i'm 70% sure i wanna sell it. I have student loans to pay off that I need to off and having two cars is too much....

Pay off your debt student loans will lower credit score. If you track the Z than it will be different story.

I'm kind of in the opposite end of the boat. I currently drive a 2003 Jetta Turbo Diesel as my daily driver. It has low miles and has been rock solid and those engines get great mileage and will keep going and going. I just bought it last year and the car is mostly depreciated which is the true cost of car ownership.

Now I am on the hunt for my first Z as my occasional driver. For what you get they are a real bargain. From my research they are also very reliable. I also like the C5 Corvette Z06 and they seem reliable but are a bit more expensive.

So basically if I get the Z and and add it to my Jetta I basically get two cars for the price of one new one.

Those new GTI's are sweet though.

Quick question....does your Z cost a lot to insure? If so I agree you may need to sell if it is just sitting there because it is basically costing you and you are not using it.

About 45/month. Which is great IMHO.

Wish my insurance was 45/ month. That's definitive a hard choice, but if it just sitting sell it and pay off your student loans and save up for something better.

Worst case scenario is that you buy another Z down the road. Its only depreciating sitting there and creating a larger deficit with interest from loans. Also you still have a your GTI so all is not lost!

I say sell the Z pay off your student debt, keep the other car for a year or 2 then sell it and buy an hr Z or 370z.

OP. all kidding aside you have to define your car needs. That is to say what are you spending money on currently. Your z will go to 200 k with minimal intervention. I mean that. The VQ is solid as $#!+ but that is not to suggest that is your car right now.
