Just picked up an 03 tourning addition Z. Nice car in great condition. The outside and inside looks like a pretty newer car except the drivers seat. torn side and worn areas within the seat. Leather heated seats. I want to replace the skins on a budget. I can do the work myself so i looked on ebay and they have "leatherlike" seat for about $220. The color looks like they would match well and the pictures look good. Has anyone bought these and has anyone replaced their skins? I have done seat skins on three different vettes, so I am pretty sure I can do these as well. Just looking for advise and past knowledge from anyone. Thanks,

After reading those 3 threads, skins have to be 100% leather or no deal for me. I wouldn't waste 220 putting fake leather or vinyl in my z. On a budget Id rather temporarily tuck a new 9 dollar black bed sheet from chinamart over my torn seat until I saved more and found oem skins or seats from a part out z.

How bad is the tear and the worn out area. When I bought mine it had
like hundreds of scratches all over both seats. Same year as yours touring
as well with leather and heated seats. I fixed my problem with a leather dye
it was magic mender I think there is another company called leatherique.
I gave it several coats of this and now they look new even better I think
because it makes worn areas look good unless there is too much of a tear.
And they match your factory color with their dye. It may be a lot less expensive
and you are keeping it original.

Just save up and get racing seats. My driver's side is like 5/10 my passenger side is 8/10 with minor scratches (Yes I am forever alone, people barely ride in my car). Also look for car upholstry shops around your area and ask them if they do leather restorations.

Thanks, but the drivers seat has two holes about the size of a golf ball. It is also petty worn all the was up and down the left side. I am pretty **** about crap like this. No one even rides in the car but my and maybe the wife every now and then, but I just hate owning something so nice, the Z, that I know can be fixed. So I ordered leather two-tone seats last night. I will replace them when they get here, it's going to be a few weeks because the color combo is black outers and sandstone inners.

If you got holes, yea you are better off. But if any other guys out there
with some scratches and worn out I think it is worth to do it yourself.
I checked some upholstery shops before hand and they are expensive.
Not to mention they wont let in on their secrets. The key is in getting
a dye, prepping and putting on several coats. Similar how you would work
wood but instead of varnish it is a dye.

I bought the $220 leatherette seats from Ebay. For me they are fine. My 350z is a second car...basically a fun weekend car. I get tons of compliments and fitment was spot on.

With the extra $600 that I saved I bought a pioneer touch screen head unit with Navigation & blue tooth and harness and bezel kit (used), replaced all 4 speakers with Kicker speakers (new). Bought a zen enclosure with 2 10" kickers subs(used) and bought a Pioneer 820W amp to power the subs (new).

If I want leather I will drive my BMW or Mercedes.

350z is 10 year old platform that was mass produced as a budget minded sports car.

If you have leather now...you probably wont be happy with the leatherette. Just buy used OEM leather seats. Bet you could get a pair for under $800 and save yourself the 8 or so hours of labor that it takes to do it yourself. Then you could probably sell your existing seats for a few hundred.
