Hey guys,

Just got into an accident, or was trying to avoid one, and ended up hitting the concrete on the ramp. Does this look totaled? Rear quarter panel needs to be removed/rewelded, skirts, rear bumper, right side rear suspension is completely trash, i couldn't even see my springs/strut/control arms, they looks smashed together. Last time I checked my car was valued around 15-18k on kbb earlier this year. Car has 55k miles on it, interior is clean minus the scratches on the door handle rest part.

I doubt it's totaled, how many miles and what year?

Really depends on what damage is hiding under the car..

You must have hit pretty hard, glad you're ok

It doesn't look bad from pics but its really up to your insurance company.

Air bags deployed? Frame damage?

If either of those happened I would say it's going to get totaled. Otherwise it all depends on what insurance says

oldschool350z 07-17-2013 10:45 AM

From the pictures it doesn't seem like the airbags deployed. But there could be frame damage.

Keep us updated

Hard to have frame damage on a car with no frame.

Probably good, $7k to $9k in damage. The unibody looks intact, but will probably require slight pulling in the rear.

La_Fiebre 07-17-2013 11:55 AM

:dunno: Doesn't look too bad. Should be fine, all depends on your insurance now.

If it is, I'll buy your tails for mine + cash :)

i actually got into a very similar accident with my rx8 and it was valued at 8500 and it just barely got totaled so you should be good

ZS14RR 07-17-2013 01:31 PM

you were trying to drift gtfo.

KingBaby 07-17-2013 01:34 PM

could be

User 42426 07-17-2013 02:36 PM

no i was not trying to drift, i was on my way to a work seminar at 6am when this happened :[

Air bags didn't deploy. When I got backed into by another car a few months ago, they hit the rear quarter panel and I was quoted 4k to replace the whole thing. I ended up just having them pull it out and bondo the rest and paint. Not sure if they can pull and bondo for this, or have to replace the whole thing. I just checked kbb and car is valued at 16k, assuming exterior and paint is in good condition, but I already had body work done

I purposely didn't post this pic, this is for the volk/work members. Those are my varrstoens. Not surprised they got messed up, the rear wheel/tire took the first hit

User 42426 07-17-2013 02:43 PM

so what happens to the damaged aftermarket parts i had on the car like the one rear wheel, tire, spring, strut, camber kit, and exhaust tip? Am I just sol on those?

350zchad 07-17-2013 02:47 PM

i would hit someone and sue before hitting concrete, being my fault, making an insurance claim and paying higher rates

dcains 07-17-2013 02:50 PM

I had some aftermarket parts on my '08, when the front took a minor hit last Fall. Allstate gladly replaced the clear front reflectors (with LED's installed) and the Z-Speed undershroud, just taking my word on what the parts cost. They added $450 to my settlement check and even offered to kick in some additional labor fees, although I installed the parts myself when the car was done at the body shop. YMMV.

The insurance company should repair the car to pre-wreck condition. The OEM parts are just as expensive as the aftermarket parts so that should not be an issue.

noooop!!! airbags deployed?? I was on an accident a couple of months back an 18 wheeler got on to my line. it hit me front passenger side all the way to the back. insurance payed for everything ( rental, bodyshop) the total was around 10 thousand including rental. my car it's a 2005 base model 70,000 . it just depends the insurance that it's paying for it.

That is ridiculous

hehateme31 07-17-2013 03:35 PM

I work at a bodyshop and i personally have seen worse. It all depends on the year of your car the mileage and if they get a high salvage bid for it. As long as the miles are low and the interior is in good shape you should be alright. Make sure the insurance adjuster takes into account of everything youve done to with whether it be your wheels the intake exhaust aftermarket stereo. All of that will up your chances of keeping your baby good luck
