Buying a Rebuilt 350z
Hey guys, I'm new here so hello to everyone.
I'm looking into buying a friends 2004 350z that is rebuilt title and has 94k miles. It's running fine and appears to have no issues. he says all he had to fix was the fenders, and radiator support. here are some pictures from the auction, where he bought it from <a href="http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/Michaell_Angelo_Vega/media/7_zpsc6a1f95e.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/w624/Michaell_Angelo_Vega/7_zpsc6a1f95e.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 7_zpsc6a1f95e.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/Michaell_Angelo_Vega/media/8_zps96ab2320.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/w624/Michaell_Angelo_Vega/8_zps96ab2320.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 8_zps96ab2320.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/Michaell_Angelo_Vega/media/9_zps29dca74d.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1333.photobucket.com/albums/w624/Michaell_Angelo_Vega/9_zps29dca74d.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 9_zps29dca74d.jpg"/></a> What do you guys think about this? |
The airbags didn't deploy either, any advice from you guys would be great, thanks!

When you say rebuilt title, don't you mean SALVAGE*?
How much is he asking for that hunk on junk? Oh Florida... |
so he bought it
and now trying to sell it maybe something else is wrong, or possibly realized what he just bought |

price seems high and you should also check with your insurance company to make sure they will insure it.
|
I see 350z for 8000 on Craigslist ..... That aren't crashed...
|
I drive a rebuilt (Its classified as a rebuilt title, not a salvage here in Florida) title 04 enthusiast with 80,000 miles that drives like new. If you know what kind of accident it was in, there's no frame damage, and everything appears straight then a rebuilt isn't necessarily a bad thing.
|
WOW, somebody was a brave man. I think more people fall out over buying cars from 'friends' than anything else.
|
4k at best

If you're buying this as a DD, do it the right way and buy something that hasn't been trashed. Don't cut corners and pinch pennies and eat from the bottom of the bucket. If you can't afford a Z, you can't afford a Z. You never know what kind of alignment issues and whatnot that thing will have down the road. $6500 is asking too much.
That being said, if you're buying this strictly as a drift/autoX/track car that's just going to be thrashed, go for it if everything checks out. Have someone who specializes in body work look it over and check out the frame. The untrained eye won't always catch the small things. But like I said, if this is going to be a daily driven car and you just want a sweet deal without having to pay for one that hasn't been trashed, you're going to have a bad time. Can it be done? Certainly. Have I seen it go wrong? Hundreds of times. And insuring a high mileage salvage title can be a ***** too. |
OP find another Z. Sounds like your jumping the gun because of price and you will regret it if you already cant afford to buy a non trashed one.
|
No please don't. I would never buy a rebuilt car no matter what it is.

i bought a rebuilt 2006 350z with 66k miles on it. im 20 years old and it was my 1st car i bought. i didnt look it over right and the car had some problems. compressor leak, bad brakes, thermostat senor, factory rims that were cracked and welded back ( almost costed me my life ), i just installed my D2 coilovers and found out i had 3 Oem shocks 1 aftermarket. my car runs great now but now that i know more about the 350z i can tell it was put together with different 350z parts. Goodluck

Exactly, a lot of people cut corners when rebuilding a car. In ny you need to go through a big inspection and have receipts for all parts
|
In Cali, you cant buy rebuilt cars, they are automatically salvage titles as soon as they get into an accident and your insurance has to total it.
|
one thing california does right.
|
I sell salvage cars for a living and that price is too high for that year and miles. I wouldn't buy it.

We do a lot of things right, seems like Florida and other states do shiit assbackwards. |
Here in Florida you could sit on a piece of ply wood with some bike tires and a motor, slap some flash lights on the front and you're good to go
